Multimode nonlinear dynamics in spatiotemporal mode-locked anomalous-dispersion lasers

Spatiotemporal mode-locking in a laser with anomalous dispersion is investigated. Mode-locked states with varying modal content can be observed, but we find it difficult to observe highly-multimode states. We describe the properties of these mode-locked states and compare them to the results of numerical simulations.

Switchable and spacing tunable dual-wavelength spatiotemporal mode-locked fiber laser

We report a switchable and spacing tunable dual-wavelength spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) laser based on the multimode interference filtering effect in an all-fiber linear cavity. The dual-wavelength STML operations combined with different pulse patterns are achieved.

In recent years, by exploiting the low modal dispersion of graded-index multimode fibers, spatiotemporal mode-locking was demonstrated in multimode fiber laser cavities [1] . The use of multimode fibers inside the laser cavity is proposed as a new path to achieve high energy and peak power pulses from fiber lasers.

Pulse dynamics in spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber lasers

We report on the experimental observation of multiple-soliton (harmonic mode-locking, multiple pulses, etc.) and period-timing bifurcations in spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber lasers. The transition of operation states, from uniformity output to period-timing bifurcations, then to chaos is also observed.

High-energy Spatiotemporal Self-Mode-locked Fiber Laser

We demonstrate an all-fiber spatiotemporal self-mode-locked fiber laser with 4.23 nJ high pulse energy and 74 mW low mode-locked threshold. The soliton pulse is obtained with multimode beam profiles and clear Kelly sidebands.
