Synchronization of coupled optical microresonators

open access: yes, 2018
The phenomenon of synchronization occurs universally across the natural sciences and provides critical insight into the behavior of coupled nonlinear dynamical systems. It also offers a powerful approach to robust frequency or temporal locking in diverse

Robust ultrashort light bullets in strongly twisted waveguide arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We introduce a new class of stable light bullets that form in twisted waveguide arrays pumped with ultrashort pulses, where twisting offers a powerful knob to tune the properties of localized states.

Frequency combs and platicons in optical microresonators with normal GVD

open access: yes, 2015
We predict the existence of a novel type of the flat-top dissipative solitonic pulses, "platicons", in microresonators with normal group velocity dispersion (GVD). We propose methods to generate these platicons from cw pump. Their duration may be altered

Period-doubling bifurcation in spatiotemporal mode-locked lasers

open access: yes, 2020
Period-doubling bifurcation is a universal dynamic of nonlinear systems, which has been extensively investigated in laser systems with a single transverse mode. This study presents an experimental observation and theoretical investigation of the period-doubling bifurcation in spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) multimode fiber lasers.

A Virtual Clinical Trial of Psychedelics to Treat Patients With Disorders of Consciousness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Disorders of consciousness after severe brain injury are marked by reduced complexity of brain activity and limited treatment options. Using personalized whole‐brain models, this study shows that simulated lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin shift patient brain dynamics closer to criticality.
