Environmental manipulation on Astyanax altiparanae out of season spawning

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2019
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of manipulating hours of light and water temperature in some important reproductive parameters for Astyanax altiparanae fish farming during winter. The experiment was conducted from July 3 rd to August 28 th 2013 (57 days), and two groups of 32 couples of fish (G1 and G2) were used.

Changes in spawning patterns of mature and immature female largehead hairtail (Trichiurus japonicus)

open access: yesFisheries and Aquatic Sciences
The largehead hairtail (Trichiurus japonicus) is an important commercial fish species in East Asia. We investigated the changes in the main spawning season of T. japonicus females migrating to the Jeju Island.

Oxidative stress and antioxidant enzyme defence system in seminal plasma of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) during spawning season

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2018
Assessment of seminal oxidative stress indicators is emerging as a valuable prognostic tool in assisted reproductive technology. We investigated levels of oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the antioxidant enzyme defence system ...

Analysis of reproductive biology and spawning season of the pink ear emperor Lethrinus lentjan, from marine ecosystem [PDF]

open access: yesZoologia (Curitiba), 2020
A total of 593 samples of Lethrinus lentjan (Lacepede, 1802) were collected from the Red Sea, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to study their productive biology and spawning season of the local population. Sampling was carried out on a monthly basis for a period of

Evaluating the effectiveness of a seasonal spawning area closure [PDF]

open access: yesICES Journal of Marine Science, 2015
AbstractFish that aggregate at predictable locations and times to spawn are often vulnerable to over-exploitation. Seasonal closures have often been implemented in an attempt to alleviate such impacts but the effectiveness of these measures is rarely tested. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a spawning closure for Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) in

Abundance, Diversity, and Distribution of Fish Larvae in The Bali Strait

open access: yesIlmu Kelautan
Larva represents the initial phase of a fish’s life after hatching from the egg. Studies on fish larvae aim to provide seasonal information, as well as identify spawning and nursery areas, especially economically important fish species, to support the ...

Quality of semen and histological analysis of testes in Eurasian perch Perca fluviatilis L. during a spawning period

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2006
A qualitative assessment of the Eurasian perch Perca fluviatilis semen describing the basic parameters of seminal plasma was completed. The histological methods used in this study showed changes in perch gonads during a spawning and post-spawning period.
