High‐Latitude Electrodynamics and Thermospheric Density Variations During the 2024 Gannon Storm

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract This study investigates high‐latitude electrodynamics and thermospheric density variations during the 2024 Gannon's storm. First, the auroral precipitation module of Auroral Spectra and High‐Latitude Electric field variabilitY, ASHLEY‐A, is improved to more accurately capture the location of auroral precipitation observed during this ...

Self‐Regulating Feedback Between Field Line Curvature Scattering, Ring Current Pressure, and Magnetic Configuration

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 23, 16 December 2025.
Abstract We incorporate field line curvature (FLC) scattering into a kinetic ring current model two‐way coupled with a global magnetospheric MHD model to investigate its role in SYM‐H prediction and global magnetospheric dynamics. FLC scattering reduces plasma pressure in regions where the ion gyroradius is comparable to the local FLC radius.

Shape Penalized Decision Forests for Imbalanced Data Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access
Class imbalance poses a critical challenge in binary classification problems, particularly when rare but significant events are underrepresented in the training set.

Redefining SAR Arc Generation: The Competing Roles of Magnetospheric and Ionospheric Energy Injection

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 6, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract Stable auroral red (SAR) arcs are luminous subauroral emissions produced by the collisional excitation of oxygen atoms during geomagnetically active times. While traditionally attributed to inner magnetospheric electron heating, recent observations and simulations challenge the exclusivity of this mechanism.

Frequency Dependent Microseisms Sources: A Case Study in Oregon

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The origin of microseisms—whether from deep‐ocean sources or coastal reflections—has been debated for decades. In this study, we use Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and Ocean Bottom Seismometer data collected offshore Oregon to investigate microseisms

Tuning the Dirac Cone of Bilayer and Bulk Structure Graphene by Intercalating First Row Transition Metals using First Principles Calculations

open access: yes, 2017
Modern nanoscience has focused on two-dimensional (2D) layer structure materials which have garnered tremendous attention due to their unique physical, chemical and electronic properties since the discovery of graphene in 2004.

Analytical Model of a Toroidal Mode Field Line Resonance and Its Drift‐Resonant Interaction With Energetic Electrons

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract Ultra‐low‐frequency (ULF) waves play a critical role in magnetospheric dynamics, yet their transient growth and resonant electron interactions remain poorly understood. We develop a first‐principle model of toroidal mode field line resonances that captures wave growth, saturation, and phase mixing.

HAWK 2.0: A Monte Carlo program for Higgs production in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung at hadron colliders

open access: yes, 2014
The Monte Carlo integrator HAWK provides precision predictions for Higgs production at hadron colliders in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung, i.e. in production processes where the Higgs boson is Attached to WeaK bosons.
