Absorption of Broadband Low‐Frequency Sound Beyond the Thermodynamics Limit: An Acoustic Resonator With Magnetic Bearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a magnetic‐bearing acoustic resonator that overcomes the thermodynamics limit of sound absorption. By introducing tunable negative stiffness, it achieves broadband low‐frequency absorption within a compact cavity, far exceeding the performance achievable by classic mass‐tuned designs.

Two‐Dimensional Conjugated Metal Organic Frameworks with Dual Metal Catalytic Active Sites Enhance POD Activity for Antibacterial Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of Cu, Ni bimetallic 2D cMOF (CuNi‐HHTP 2D cMOF) featuring dual catalytic sites and high delocalized electronic structure for boosting POD performance. The CuNi‐HHTP 2D‐cMOF enhances the conversion kinetics of H2O2 to ROS, which subsequently enhances antibacterial activity and accelerates the healing of oral ulcers, with macroscopic wound ...

Speaker verification: a tutorial

IEEE Communications Magazine, 1990
The task of speaker verification, a subset of the general problem of speaker recognition is defined. The feature selection and pattern matching steps of the recognition procedure are examined. Speaker verification system design and performance are discussed, and databases for evaluating them are briefly considered.

On Deep Speaker Embeddings for Speaker Verification

2021 44th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2021
In recent years, there has been a tremendous application spike in the field of deep neural networks (DNN), including increasing interest in automatic speaker recognition systems development. Currently, the utilization of DNN-based speaker embeddings, such as x-vectors or d-vectors, is a common way of creating speaker-specific acoustic models. In recent

Effective speaker adaptations for speaker verification

2000 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37100), 2002
This paper concerns effective speaker adaptation methods to solve the over-training problem in speaker verification, which frequently occurs when modeling a speaker with sparse training data. While various speaker adaptations have already been applied to speech recognition, these methods have not yet been formally considered in speaker verification ...

Speaker verification by inexperienced and experienced listeners vs. speaker verification system

2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011
This paper describes the participation of the LIA in the Human Assisted Speaker Recognition (HASR) task of the NIST-SRE 2010 evaluation campaign and its extension to a larger number of listeners. The human performance in such unfavorable conditions is analyzed in relation to the decision of a speaker recognition automatic system.

Disentangling speaker and channel effects in speaker verification

2004 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2004
We show how a joint factor analysis of inter-speaker and intra-speaker variability in a training database which contains multiple recordings for each speaker can be used to construct likelihood ratio statistics for speaker verification which take account of intra-speaker variation and channel variation in a principled way.

Speaker verification without background speaker models

2003 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003. Proceedings. (ICASSP '03)., 2003
Speaker verification concerns the problem of verifying whether a given utterance has been pronounced by a claimed authorized speaker. This problem is important because an accurate speaker verification system can be applied to many security applications. We present a new algorithm for speaker verification called OSCILLO.

Improvement of Speaker Vector-Based Speaker Verification

2009 Fifth International Conference on Information Assurance and Security, 2009
This paper describes the improvement in the performance of a text-independent speaker verification based on a speaker vector. The verification system is based on the technique of anchor models. In our previous work, the performance improvement could be obtained by using phonetic-based models instead of Gaussian mixture models (GMMs) in speaker ...

Robust Speaker Identification and Verification

IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine, 2007
Acoustic characteristics have played an essential role in biometrics. In this article, we introduce a robust, text-independent speaker identification/verification system. This system is mainly based on a subspace-based enhancement technique and probabilistic support vector machines (SVMs).
