This chapter traces The Sandra Bland Movement, as the collective response became known, when Bland’s death in the Waller County, Texas jail in July of 2015 sparked national outrage about anti-Black state violence. Though her death was ruled a suicide, her family disputed the claim that Sandra took her own life.
