Jackknife Euclidean Likelihood-Based Inference for Spearman's Rho
North American Actuarial Journal, 2012Abstract We discuss jackknife Euclidean likelihood-based inference methods, with a special focus on the construction of confidence intervals for Spearman's rho. We show that a Wilks's theorem holds for jackknife Euclidean likelihood, and based on it we construct confidence intervals for Spearman's rho.

A nonparametric confidence interval for slope based on spearman's rho
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1988An algorithm is presented for computing an exact nonparametric interval estimate of the slope parameter in a simple linear regression model. The confidence interval is obtained by inverting the hypothesis test for slope that uses Spearman's rho. This method is compared to an exact procedure based on Kendall's tau.

Average Spearman's Rho, Concordance, and the Matching Problem: Some Relationships
The American Statistician, 1991Abstract Relationships between concordance measures and the number of matches are established when there are n objects to be ranked by each of k judges under the hypothesis of independent and random ordering. These relationships generalize earlier results of Barton and David, who dealt with the case k = 2.

Empirical Size, Coverage, and Power of Confidence Intervals for Spearman's Rho
Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997Several methods of constructing confidence intervals (CIs) for Spearman's rho were tested in a Monte Carlo investigation. A total of 2,000 samples of sizes 10, 50, and 200 were randomly drawn from bivariate normal populations with p, equal to .00, .29, .43, .58, .73, and .89.

Calculation of Spearman's Rho for Ordered Two-Way Classifications
The American Statistician, 19631. In a letter published in the December 1962 issue of this journal, Gilbert M. Oster gave a formula which he had derived empirically for calculating Spearman's rank correlation coefficient from observations classified into an ordered two-way table with the same number of rows and columns.

A Note About the Conjecture on Spearman's Rho and Kendall's Tau
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2000In this paper, we consider the open question on Spearman's rho and Kendall's tau of Nelsen [1991]. Using a technical hypothesis, we can answer in the positive. One question remains open: how can we understand the technical hypothesis? Because this hypothesis is not right in general, we could find some pathological cases which contradict Nelsen's ...

Approximating Pearson Product-Moment Correlations from Kendall's Tau and Spearman's Rho
Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996This article used Monte Carlo methods to investigate the accuracy of formulas presented by Kendall for estimating Pearson's r from X and by Pearson for estimating Pearson's r from rs. Results indicated that the formula for approximating r from r is somewhat more accurate than the formula for approximating r from rs.

Bivariate Correlation: Pearson Product–Moment and Spearman Rho Correlations
2009Overview Correlation in statistical terms is a way to assess the degree of relationship or association that is observed between variables. Bivariate correlation focuses on the relationship between two ( bi -) variables (- variate ). Behavioral and social research almost always is concerned about the relationship of two or more variables, and so ...
