Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind and the univariate Lommel function: Integral representations

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
This study investigates a number of integrals possessing products of different indices of the univariate Lommel function, sμ,ν(a){s}_{\mu ,\nu }\left(a), with various elementary and special functions.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Special functions: . . . [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Steffensen inequality and bounds for theČebyšev functional are utilised to obtain bounds for some classical special functions. The technique relies on determining bounds on integrals of products of functions.

Special software for computing the special functions of wave catastrophes

open access: yes, 2015
The method of ordinary differential equations in the context of calculating the special functions of wave catastrophes is considered. Complementary numerical methods and algorithms are described. The paper shows approaches to accelerate such calculations

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

A Recurrence Relation Approach to Higher Order Quantum Superintegrability

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2011
We develop our method to prove quantum superintegrability of an integrable 2D system, based on recurrence relations obeyed by the eigenfunctions of the system with respect to separable coordinates.

The fourth Painleve equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The six Painleve equations (PI–PVI) were first discovered about a hundred years ago by Painleve and his colleagues in an investigation of nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations.

Fuzzy special logic functions and applications

open access: yes, 1992
In this thesis, four special logic functions (threshold functions, monotone increasing functions, monotone decreasing functions, and unate functions) are extended to more general functions which allows the activities of these special functions to be a ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
