The Continuum in Special Relativity
Physical Review, 1951A relativistically covariant formalism describing the behavior of a continuous medium is presented. A method is developed for resolving covariant expressions into space and time components. One obtains by this method from a symmetric energy-momentum tensor, a scalar invariant energy density, a vector heat flux, and the stress tensor.

Special relativity is essential in order to be able to link magnetic fields to electric fields. Einstein's special relativity postulates and the Lorentz transformation equations are used to derive formulas for time dilation and length foreshortening in a moving frame of reference. The kinematic consequences of these formulas are explored.
