Relative Simultaneity in the Special Relativity

Philosophy of Science, 1977
In this paper a method is proposed for empirically determining simultaneity at a distance within the special theory of relativity. It is argued that this method is independent of Einstein's signalling method and provides a basis for denying the conventionality of distant simultaneity.

On special relativity

Physics Letters A, 1969
Abstract The correct application of special relativity to the case of a ‘rotating’ disc are given. The effects of gravitation cannot be deduced from the application of special relativity. The definitions of unit time interval and unit space interval are discussed.

Special Theory of Relativity

Nature, 1962
Two years ago I pointed out1 what appears to be an inconsistency in the kinematical part of Einstein's special theory of relativity. I repeated this in a slightly different form in a volume published in December last2. No comment has been made on the former publication, either spontaneously or in response to individual requests, and in none of the many

Special relativity in general relativity?

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1974
Starting from the metric in harmonic coordinates for a test particle m1 around a heavy particle m2(m2≫m1) at rest, the EIH Lagrangian is recovered by making a Lorentz transformation, followed by a canonical transformation and an appropriate symmetrization in the two masses. This raises the question of a special relativity content in general relativity,

Presentism and Special Relativity

2021
Presentism is one of the most influential views on the nature of time. It claims, roughly, that only the present exists. It is widely held that special relativity is highly problematic for presentism. I show that arguments to this end rely on interpretations the presentist need not accept.

Is the Special Theory of Relativity Wrong ?: The Special Theory of Relativity

Nature, 1968
Since the publication of Professor Dingle's article (Nature, 216, 119; 1967), arguing that the special theory of relativity is incorrect, several comments on this issue have been received, and we propose in the next few months to publish a selection of these.

The Foundation of Special Relativity [PDF]

open access: possible, 2009
In Chap. 3 we developed Newtonian Physics from the relativistic point of view. We have discussed the deeper role of the Galileo Principle of Relativity and the concept of Newtonian physical quantity. In this chapter we shall use these Newtonian relativistic concepts to formulate the Theory of Special Relativity.
