Investigation of externally toothed parts forming using ballizing technique
Externally toothed parts such as gears, splined and coupling sleeves can be manufactured by machining, casting, and forming. The machining process is costly because of using a special tool, consuming power, and wasting material during the machining ...

Ban Glyphosate—Does It Affect the Swedish Farmers' Willingness to Grow Cover Crops?
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops is one of the new Eco‐scheme practices introduced in Sweden. This study examines how the design of policy attributes of these schemes influences farmers' willingness to grow cover crops on arable land, with particular focus on the potential impact of a glyphosate ban.

Piecewise L-splines of order 4: Interpolation and L2 error bounds for splines in tension
Piecewise L-splines are generalizations of L-splines, in the sense that they satisfy different differential equations in different mesh intervals. Prenter attempted in [P.M. Prenter, Piecewise L-Splines, Numer. Math.

Penalized splines and reproducing kernel methods [PDF]
Two data analytic research areas - penalized splines and reproducing kernel methods - have become very vibrant since the mid-1990s. This article shows how the former can be embedded in the latter via theory for reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.

Unpacking the Farmland Capitalization Effect of Ethanol Establishment
ABSTRACT We unpack the impact of expansions in ethanol production—as measured by proximity to newly constructed ethanol plants and capacity expansions—on farmland values using land transaction data from Kansas in combination with modern causal inference techniques.

Crop Insurance Design and On‐Farm Risk Adaptation
ABSTRACT The United States spends billions annually on crop insurance premium subsidies, yet the prevailing distance‐based guarantee design unintentionally rewards risk‐taking by linking subsidies to yield variability. We consider a simple redesign: define guarantees in terms of probability so that coverage reflects a consistent likelihood of indemnity.

Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

It is a fact that slippage causes tracking errors in both longitudinal and lateral directions which results to have less travel distance in tracking a reference trajectory. Less travel distance means having energy loss of the battery and carrying loads less than planned.
