ON DEVELOPABLE SURFACES. AN OVERVIEW

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2006
The ruled surfaces, generated by a straight line moving in space in accordance with a certain law, exibit special properties that confer them a wide range of practical applications.

Special Curves in Engineering. Surfaces Generated by the Logarithmic Spiral

open access: yesModelling in Civil Environmental Engineering, 2022
The logarithmic spiral is one of the most known curves with applications in engineering. We consider product of the logarithmic spiral with a real line and tensor product of two logarithmic spirals and investigate their minimality or flatness.

Aptamer‐based strategies against SARS‐CoV‐2 viruses

open access: yesBMEMat, 2023
The COVID‐19 pandemic, caused by SARS‐CoV‐2, has seriously threatened human life and security in recent years and has had a serious impact on economic development. A range of strategies, including antibodies, small‐molecule agents and vaccines, have been

Minimal surfaces with non-trivial geometry in the three-dimensional Heisenberg group

open access: yesComplex Manifolds, 2022
We study symmetric minimal surfaces in the three-dimensional Heisenberg group Nil3 using the generalized Weierstrass type representation, the so-called loop group method.

Special isothermic surfaces of type d [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, 2012
The special isothermic surfaces, discovered by Darboux in connection with deformations of quadrics, admit a simple explanation via the gauge-theoretic approach to isothermic surfaces. We find that they fit into a heirarchy of special classes of isothermic surface and extend the theory to arbitrary codimension.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Deformation of Surfaces in Lie Sphere Geometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The theory of surfaces in Euclidean space can be naturally formulated in the more general context of Legendre surfaces into the space of contact elements. We address the question of deformability of Legendre surfaces with respect to the symmetry group of

Grouping of tooth surfaces by susceptibility to caries: a study in 5-16 year-old children

open access: yes, 2004
Background The decline in caries has slowed and this may be indicative of variation in the susceptibility of differing teeth to caries. This study tests the hypothesis that in children, there are groups of tooth sites that exhibit differences in caries ...
