The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Hypertension in menopausal women – a special case ,for special treatment?

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology, 2001
After the menopause the consequences of hypertension in women change. Their risks of myocardial infarction and stroke rise steeply, a rise that has been blamed in part on the loss of estrogen and the onset of menopausal metabolic syndrome, with endothelial dysfunction, hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance and derangement in coagulation.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Statistical Treatment Rules under Social Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper we study treatment assignment rules in the presence of social interaction. We construct an analytical framework under the anonymous interaction assumption, where the decision problem becomes choosing a treatment fraction. We propose a multinomial empirical success (MES) rule that includes the empirical success rule of Manski (2004) as a ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Development and Validation of a Nomogram Model for Predicting in-Hospital Mortality in non-Diabetic Patients with non-ST-Segment Elevation Acute Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesClinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis
Non-ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) is a life-threatening clinical emergency with a poor prognosis. However, there are no individualized nomogram models to identify patients at high risk of NSTEMI who may undergo death.

Regulation of SLC7A11 by LncRNA GPRC5D-AS1 mediates ferroptosis in skeletal muscle: Mechanistic exploration of sarcopenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
Sarcopenia is a chronic, progressive disease characterized by the gradual loss of skeletal muscle strength and mass. This study investigates the role of the long non-coding RNA GPRC5D-AS1 in the development and progression of sarcopenia through its ...

Direct Solution Method for System of Linear Equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Direct solution of simultaneous linear equations is regarded to be slow for large systems of equations and requires special treatment to avoid numerical instability. A new method is proposed that addresses the numerical instability without any special treatments. The method uses the orthogonal matrices to achieve numerical stability.
