Special and differential treatment in the Millennium Round [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper discusses special and differential treatment (SDT) for developing countries in a new WTO trade round. It argues that SDT introduced in the Uruguay Round represented a sharp departure from pre Uruguay Round SDT which had focussed on special ...

Regulation of SLC7A11 by LncRNA GPRC5D-AS1 mediates ferroptosis in skeletal muscle: Mechanistic exploration of sarcopenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
Sarcopenia is a chronic, progressive disease characterized by the gradual loss of skeletal muscle strength and mass. This study investigates the role of the long non-coding RNA GPRC5D-AS1 in the development and progression of sarcopenia through its ...

Effect of Carbonation on the Leachability of Solidified/Stabilized Lead-Contaminated Expansive Soil

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
Lime, fly ash, and alkaline residue are used widely as effective binders to solidify/stabilize heavy metal-contaminated expansive soil. Carbonation, however, may influence the effectiveness of solidification/stabilization (S/S) by decomposing hydration ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Occurrence of FVIII Inhibitors in Hemophilia A Patients Following an Institutional Switch to a Third Generation B-Domain-Deleted FVIII

open access: yesClinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis, 2023
In 2018, Refacto AF R , a B-domain-deleted third-generation FVIII concentrate, became our preferential product. After the introduction, the development of inhibitors was prospectively monitored; retrospectively, we sought for risk factors in the patients

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
