Dynamics of the Galvanic Replacement Reaction of Silver by Gold: Phenomenological Models for Open Circuit Potential‐Time Responsive Indicator

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
This article explores the dynamics of replacing three silver atoms by one gold atom (galvanic replacement reaction [GRR]) within silver nanoparticles. The reaction is tracked experimentally using open circuit potential and then mathematically fitted to a sigmoidal kinetic function inspired by autocatalytic and enzymatic cascade reaction functions to ...

Pivotal Synthesis of Tetrasubstituted Epoxides from Ketones and α‐Halo B/Si Ylides with Understanding of the Activation Modes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
The preparation of diastereoselective 1,1,2,2‐tetrasubstituted borosilylepoxides is described, involving the epoxidation of ketones with α‐monohalo borylsilylmethane reagents. The nature of the ambiphilic reagent suppressed the Boron‐Wittig olefination.

X‐Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy as Useful Technique for the Quantification of Halogen and Chalcogen Bonding Interactions

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Unprecedented application of X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for quantifying halogen and chalcogen bond strengths. This pioneering work provides the first benchmark study and establishes strong correlations between XPS shifts (ΔBE) and interaction energies (ΔE), revealing XPS as an experimental measure for noncovalent bond quantification in ...

Shedding Light on Synthetic Autocatalysis: From Conventional Closed‐Shell Chemistries to Overlooked Open‐Shell Occurrences

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Why add another catalyst when the product itself holds the power to catalyze its own formation? Autocatalysis in synthetic chemistry enhances reaction efficiency and uncovers novel catalytic behavior across both closed‐shell and open‐shell systems, expanding reactivity and enabling innovative design strategies.
