Spatial heterogeneity in species richness and species composition
Grassland Science, 2010AbstractVisually detecting and measuring actual spatial heterogeneity is relatively easy using traits of grassland vegetation communities, e.g. ‘quantitative’ traits such as spatial heterogeneity in biomass, vegetation cover and frequency of occurrence for each species. In the present paper, we consider substantively ‘qualitative’ aspects of vegetation,

Lipid composition of 30 species of yeast
Lipids, 1976AbstractThe detailed composition of cellular lipid of more than 23 species of yeast has been determined quantitatively by thinchrography on quartz rods, a method previously used for estimating cellular lipids of seven species of yeast. That data was fortified by neutral and phospholipid quantitations on 30 species of yeast cells.

Plasmid composition of Staphylococcus species
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1981A total of 342 staphylococci representing 13 different recognized species were screened for plasmid composition using agarose gel electrophoresis techniques. Plasmids of molecular weight (MW) 30 × 106 or larger in size were uncommon in staphylococci.

Species Composition of the Forest
2003One of the most striking features of tropical forests is their extraordinary species diversity (MacArthur 1969; Gentry 1982). The diversity of tropical trees supports a remarkable diversity of vertebrate and insect herbivores that have been shown to inflict a more intense pest pressure than in temperate settings (Landsberg and Ohmart 1989; Coley and ...

Representation of Species Composition
2016The Aitchison geometry of the simplex, the sample space of compositional data, allows statistical modelling and analysis of compositions without the problems derived from spurious correlation. Here, it is used to show that it offers an alternative to the de Finetti ternary diagram for representing variability of species composition avoiding the ...

Composition and biosynthesis of molecular species of retina phosphoglycerides
Neurochemistry International, 1980Recent studies on the fatty acid composition and labeling by glycerol of individual molecular species of retinal phosphoglycerides are presented. Docosahexaenoate-containing species are important constituents of retina phospholipids. 22:6 and saturated fatty acids appear in similar amounts in hexaenes (nearly 50% each).

DNA base composition of species of the genusSaccharomyces
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1975DNA base compositions (GC content) of Saccharomyces species are reported and discussed. Several amendments of the four groups given by van der Walt are suggested, viz. the transfer of S. kluyveri to group 1, and of S. eupagycus, S. cidri, S. montanus, S. microellipsodes and S. florentinus to group 2. The synonomy of S. amurcae and S. cidri is suggested.

Diversity and Composition of Plant and Lichen Species
2013Abstract Among the elements of forest biodiversity, vegetation, including epiphytes, is the foundation of ecosystem functioning and primary production. Basic features for harmonized large-scale and intensive monitoring of vascular plants, cryptogams, and epiphytic lichens are presented. For the assessment of ground vegetation on the European scale, a

Mineral composition of basidiomes of Amanita species
Mycological Research, 2005Basidiomes of 43 samples of eight Amanita species were gathered from different habitats of Hungary. The mineral composition (22 elements) was analysed by the ICP method in three independent replications, and mineral compositions found as discussed and compared.
