Using phenology to improve invasive plant detection in fine‐scale hyperspectral drone‐based images
Using drone‐based hyperspectral images of mixed temperate successional forests collected over a growing season, detection algorithms were produced for three invasive species of interest, which are not only invasive in Virginia but also much of the U.S.: Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven), Elaeagnus umbellata (autumn olive), and Rhamnus davurica ...

ABSTRACT Achieving Agenda 2030 depends on addressing interactions between the sustainable development goals (SDGs). In this paper, we conceptualize SDG interactions as synergies or trade‐offs, incoming or outgoing, and internal or external, and analyze how SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) interacts with other SDGs within and across policy programmes that support ...

This review highlights the characteristic odor markers of illicit drugs, emphasizing volatile markers from both natural and synthetic sources, and explores the shift from canine‐based detection to emerging noncontact sensing technologies. Illicit drug use remains a global concern, requiring effective detection methods to counter evolving concealment ...

Evaluation of drones as a tool for multi‐species nest surveys on linear rights‐of‐way
This paper examines the use of drones with infrared cameras as a tool in the detection of bird nests on linear rights‐of‐way, in comparison to standard ground‐based nest surveys. Abstract The varying application of drone use in wildlife research has expanded in recent years. With the ability to utilize a variety of different sensors (e.g., infrared [IR]

Seasonal variation in wild pig (Sus scrofa) diet revealed by DNA metabarcoding
Using DNA metabarcoding of fecal samples, we investigated the diet of wild pigs at an extensive bottomland hardwood forest ecosystem within Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Arkansas. We found that wild pig diet was highly diverse and included at least 74 plant families and 106 genera and 23 species of vertebrates.
