Assessing the response of nematode communities to climate change-driven warming : a microcosm experiment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Biodiversity has diminished over the past decades with climate change being among the main responsible factors. One consequence of climate change is the increase in sea surface temperature, which, together with long exposure periods in intertidal areas ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Two near-chromosomal-level genomes of globally-distributed Macroascomycete based on single-molecule fluorescence and Hi-C methods

open access: yesScientific Data
Discinaceae holds significant importance within the Pezizales, representing a prominent group of macroascomycetes distributed globally. However, there is a dearth of genomic studies focusing on this family, resulting in gaps in our understanding of its ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Report of a Feather Mite Species (Acariformes: Astigmata) from the Oriental White Stork, Ciconia boyciana (Ciconiiformes: Ciconiidae), Belonging to the Japanese Native Population

open access: yesSpecies Diversity, 2023
In Japan, the native population of the Oriental White Stork Ciconia boyciana Swinhoe, 1873 had been extinct in 1986, when the last captured stork died in a breeding facility. Later on, some wild or bred storks from Russia and mainland China (clear origin

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Tree species effect on natural control of H. albipunctella de Joannis in a millet agroforestry system in Senegal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Association of several tree species in and around a plot can have a positive impact on ecosystem services. Thus, traditional agroforestry systems, characterized by a high plant diversity, constitute an ideal model of study to test if the natural tree ...
