We investigated the evidence of belowground overyielding in a species-rich temperate broad-leaved forest with an ingrowth core study in 100 plots containing five common tree species (beech, lime, maple, hornbeam, ash) in mono-specific and 2-species or 3 ...

Oppositely charged single enzyme nanogels (SENs) phase‐separate into bi‐enzymatic coacervate microdroplets, acting as both scaffold and functional units. By tuning SEN ratios, these coacervates create specific microenvironments that enable selective small‐molecule enrichment and efficient intermediate diffusion.

Conservation of saproxylic species [PDF]
Forest management has altered the prerequisite of many species in forest landscapes. The new, more conservation-oriented forest management includes a range of different strategies that aim to prevent losses of biodiversity. Evaluating these strategies is

This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.

There have been few advances in understanding the organization and dynamics of ants in tropical dry forests. The latter are a seriously threatened ecosystem, and ants are important indicators of diversity, disturbance, and restoration in forest ...

Trophy constrains the temperature effect on ciliate species turnover rates
We applied FlowCam analysis cross‐validated by 18S rDNA sequences and taxonomic literature to study seasonal and short‐term population dynamics and species turnover in ciliate plankton during 15 months with high‐frequency samplings in a shallow temperate
