Assessing knowledge and implementation gaps in soil health: an analysis from stakeholders

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Despite the European Union establishing an ambitious legislative framework—including the recent Soil Monitoring Law—and making significant scientific progress in understanding soil health, 60%–70% of EU soils remain unhealthy.

Synthesis of AgBiS2 and AgInS2 Based on Formation Energies in Sulfur‐Rich Reducing Flame

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐surface‐area AgInS2 and AgBiS2 nanoparticles were synthesized via enclosed flame spray pyrolysis by tuning flame conditions and formation energies to guide phase formation. Flame parameters were tuned to suppress oxides and enable pure sulfide phase growth.

The principle of subsidiarity and its application in European Union law [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2018
The principle of subsidiarity embodies the idea of conferring a specific power to the higher level or wider community only provided that it is more effective for accomplishing the envisaged objectives than the action taken at the lower level of authority.

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

Electrostatic‐Attraction‐Driven Self‐Assembled Graphene‐Disordered Rocksalt Composite Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐aqueous, solution‐based graphene‐wrapping strategy is shown to stabilize disordered rocksalt LMTOF cathodes without structural degradation. The graphene‐wrapped cathode suppresses oxygen loss and parasitic interfacial reactions, lowers impedance growth, and delivers improved cycling stability and rate capability compared with conventional ball ...

Mimicking Silent Synapse Recruitment: A SiOx/Cu‐Pancake Memristive Device For Analog Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroforming‐free TiN/SiOx/Cu/SiOx/TiN memristive devices exploit pancake‐like Cu nanoparticles embedded in a SiOx double layer to create a heterogeneous Schottky‐barrier landscape. Under bias, oxygen‐vacancy redistribution progressively lowers local barriers and recruits initially inactive Cu‐PC pathways into a parallel conduction ensemble, enabling

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.
