Direct Measurement of Specific Membrane Capacitance in Neurons [PDF]
The specific membrane capacitance (C(m)) of a neuron influences synaptic efficacy and determines the speed with which electrical signals propagate along dendrites and unmyelinated axons. The value of this important parameter remains controversial. In this study, C(m) was estimated for the somatic membrane of cortical pyramidal neurons, spinal cord ...

Activated Carbon Aerogel as an Electrode with High Specific Capacitance for Capacitive Deionization
In this study, carbon aerogels (CAs) were synthesized by the sol-gel method, using environmentally friendly glucose as a precursor, and then they were further activated with potassium hydroxide (KOH) to obtain activated carbon aerogels (ACAs). After the activation, the electrochemical performance of the ACAs was significantly improved, and the specific

Boron-Decorated Pillared Graphene as the Basic Element for Supercapacitors: An Ab Initio Study
In this work, using the first-principle density functional theory (DFT) method, we study the properties of a new material based on pillared graphene and the icosahedral clusters of boron B12 as a supercapacitor electrode material.

Capacitation of Rabbit Spermatozoa: Species Specificity and Organ Specificity.
SummaryIt has been found that washed rabbit sperm may be capacitated in the uterus of an estrous rabbit, rat, and dog, indicating that the capacitation mechanism is similar in these species. It was shown that washed rabbit sperm are capacitated only in the uterus and oviduct of the estrous rabbit and not in the bladder, colon and knee joint, indicating

Effect of mesoporosity on specific capacitance of carbons [PDF]
The study compares the structural and electrochemical properties of 12 porous carbons based on phenolic resins, using both aqueous (H2SO4) and aprotic ((C2H5)4NBF4 in acetonitrile) electrolytes. It appears that they fit into the general pattern observed for other carbons.
