Preparation of spinel ferrites-based flexible electrodes for high electrochemical performances

open access: yesChemical Physics Impact
In this study, we synthesized two different types of spinel ferrites as CoFe2O4 and NiFe2O4 nanocomposites by thermal decomposition method to improve the performance of supercapacitor research. Numerous physicochemical characterization tests, including X-

Supercapacitor Electrodes Based on Furan-EDOT Copolymers via Electropolymerization

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2014
A series of furan-EDOT copolymer films, namely, P(Fu-EDOT), P(Fu-EDOT-Fu) and P(EDOT-Fu- EDOT), were electrochemically synthesized from their corresponding monomers and evaluated as active electrode materials for supercapacitor applications by ...

Boosting Specific Energy and Power of Carbon-Ionic Liquid Supercapacitors by Engineering Carbon Pore Structures

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
Carbon-ionic liquid (C-IL) supercapacitors (SCs) promise to provide high capacitance and high operating voltage, and thus high specific energy. It is still highly demanding to enhance the capacitance in order to achieve high power and energy density.

Capacitive Saccharide Sensor Based on Immobilized Phenylboronic Acid with Diol Specificity [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2018
A capacitive sensor for saccharide detection is described in this study. The detection is based on selective interaction between diols and aminophenylboronic acid (APBA) immobilized on a gold electrode. Glucose, fructose, and dextran (MW: 40 kDa) were tested with the system over wide concentration ranges (1.0 x 10-8 M - 1.0 x 10-3 M for glucose, 1.0 x ...

Cell Type-specific Modes of Feedback Regulation of Capacitative Calcium Entry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
The Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor, thapsigargin, activated Ca2+ entry into pancreatic acinar cells, a process known as capacitative calcium entry. In cells loaded with the calcium chelator BAPTA, the transient Ca2+ release was blunted and the rise of [Ca2+]i on readdition of Ca2+ was slowed. However, the steady-state [Ca2+]i due to Ca2+ entry was substantially

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Enhancement of the electrochemical properties of commercial coconut shell-based activated carbon by H2O dielectric barrier discharge plasma [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
Commercial coconut shell-based activated carbon (CSAC) has low specific capacitance and specific capacitance retention owing to its undeveloped pore structure and low proportion of heteroatoms.

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.
