Skateboards as a Sustainable Recyclable Material

open access: yesRecycling, 2018
The exact number of skateboards manufactured every year is unknown, but it is estimated to be in the millions. Most skateboard decks are made from a high grade of maple (Acer spp.) veneer plywood and typically last only a few months before they break or ...

Vorticity‐Driven µ‐Platelet Rotation and Selective Packing for Vertical Thermal–Electrical Interconnects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a capillary‐filtering‐based particle‐filling (CFPF) process that simultaneously forms vertical thermal pathways and electrical vias within µ‐pores. In situ microfluidic analysis reveals that capillary‐driven velocity gradients generate vorticity that governs µ‐platelet rotation and vertical alignment.

Radial variation in cell morphology of melia azedarach planted in northern vietnam

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2020
The radial variation in cell morphology of ten-year-old Melia azedarach trees planted in northern Vietnam was experimentally investigated. The earlywood fiber lumen diameter and latewood fiber lumen diameter were almost unchanged from pith to 6th ring ...

Low Specific Gravity Syndrome

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1968
Abstract Data strongly suggest that the longer patients have been treated in New Castle State Hospital, the higher the probability that they will demonstrate the low specific gravity syndrome. It is believed that a probably unrecognized alteration in human water metabolism among institutionalized patients who have chronic, severe ...

Electrocapillary Modulated Interfacial Tension Amplifies Liquid Metal Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presented an electrocapillary‐enhanced magnetohydrodynamic pumping strategy that harnesses the Lorentz force and interfacial tension modulation of liquid metal droplets to achieve amplified fluidic power. The system enabled low‐voltage, self‐oscillating fluidic transduction with enhanced pressure and flow generation, supporting compact ...

Potato response to potassium application rates and timing under semi-arid conditions

open access: yesAdvances in Horticultural Science, 2013
A two-year experiment (2004-2005) was conducted at Tal Amara Research Station in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon to evaluate the influence of progressive application of K rates and application timing on yield, yield components and tuber quality of potato ...

VARIABILITY IN BIOMASS PRODUCTION AND SOME WOOD PROPERTIES OF Dalbergia sissoo TREES GROWN IN ASWAN (SOUTHERN EGYPT) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2011
Aboveground- tree biomass, some of the wood properties  and chemical compositions of stem wood ash were measured in five ages (2, 5, 7, 15 and 25- year- old) of Dalbergia sissoo trees, growing on infertile soil in the Tropical Farm, Kom- Ombo, Aswan ...

Reduced Graphene Oxide Transparent Electrodes Enabling Compact Soft Tunable Lenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By spray‐coating an elastomeric membrane with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) at various surface densities, elastomeric actuators are manufactured. Electro‐mechano‐optical characterizations show the suitability of rGO as an effective material for compliant, semi‐transparent electrodes, enabling soft electrically tunable lenses with a compact form factor ...
