Specific Surface Area of Swaged UO2 Compact

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1965
Specific surface area was measured on swaged UO2 compacts by B.E.T. method using Kr as adsorbate. The procedure for specimen preparation of swaged UO2 compact is discussed in the report. Measured values of cold swaged UO2 compact (88% T.D.) were mostly 0.51–0.70 m2/g, while those of hot swaged UO2 compact (94% T.D.) mostly 0.05∼0.13 m2/g.

Activated Carbon Fiber Derived from Sisal with Large Specific Surface Area for High-Performance Supercapacitors

ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2019
The use of biomass porous carbon materials for energy storage has attracted tremendous attention in current research and has great applications in supercapacitors, lithium batteries, and fuel cells. In this work, sisal-derived activated carbon fibers (SC)

The specific surface area of γ-Al2O3

Surface Science, 1972
Abstract The specific surface area of γ-Al 2 O 3 (Alon) has been determined by three methods: A typical sample was 129 m 2 g by the BET (N 2 adsorption) method, 118 m 2 g by negative adsorption of sodium ion from dilute aqueous solution, and 117 m 2 g by differential capacity.

Specific surface area determination by TG/DSC

Thermochimica Acta, 1999
Abstract The specific surface area is an important feature, greatly affecting the sintering behavior of ceramics and metallic powders. It is usually reported as a BET measurement. Similarly, for UO 2 powders, the stoichiometric O/U ratio also has an influence on the sinterability and can be measured by thermogravimetry.

New Anthraquinone‐Based Conjugated Microporous Polymer Cathode with Ultrahigh Specific Surface Area for High‐Performance Lithium‐Ion Batteries

Advanced Functional Materials, 2019
Redox‐active conjugated microporous polymers (RCMPs) polymerized by conventional methods are commonly obtained as irregular insoluble solid particles making the electrode processing difficult.

Specific surface areas of new carbon adsorbents

Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2010
We report on a mathematical description of the specific surface area of a carbonaceous adsorbent as a function of the specific surface area of the precursor carbonized material and as a function of percent burn-off during the gas-vapor activation of the carbonized material with carbon dioxide and steam for carbonized materials of various natures.

Determination of specific surface area by krypton adsorption, comparison of three different methods of determining surface area, and evaluation of different specific surface area standards

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1987
Abstract A method for the measurement of the specific surface area of powder samples weighing between 1 and 50 mg is described. The method is based on 85 Kr adsorption. A ratio test demonstrated that the method gives self-consistent data for samples of less than 10 mg. A cross-check, using 50-mg samples of uranium dioxide, demonstrated agreement to ±

Specific surface area and surface charges of some argentinian soils

Zeitschrift für Pflanzenernährung und Bodenkunde, 1997
AbstractThe specific surface areas of nine argentinian soils obtained by adsorption followed the order N2 < ethylene glycol < H2O, attributed to the presence of smectites (verified by XRD analysis) and some organic coating. The H2O2 treatment of these soils modified the former order of surface area determined by different absorbents.

Rate of Evolution of the Specific Surface Area of Surface Snow Layers

Environmental Science & Technology, 2002
The snowpack can impact atmospheric chemistry by exchanging adsorbed or dissolved gases with the atmosphere. Modeling this impact requires the knowledge of the specific surface area (SSA) of snow and its variations with time. We have therefore measured the evolution of the SSA of eight recent surface snow layers in the Arctic and the French Alps, using
