Specificity of Specific Language Impairment

Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica, 1996
In children with specific language impairment (SLI) their problems are supposed to be specifically restricted to language. However, both on theoretical basis as well as on a practical basis it is often difficult to make a sharp distinction between specific and non-specific language disorders.

Genotype Specification Language

ACS Synthetic Biology, 2016
We describe here the Genotype Specification Language (GSL), a language that facilitates the rapid design of large and complex DNA constructs used to engineer genomes. The GSL compiler implements a high-level language based on traditional genetic notation, as well as a set of low-level DNA manipulation primitives.

Language-specific listening

Trends in Cognitive Sciences, 1997
Languages differ in their phonological structure and physcholinguists have begun to explore the conseqence, of this fact for speech perception. We review research documenting that listeners attune their perceptual processes finaly to exploit the phonological regularities of their nativ language.

A collaboration specification language

Proceedings of the 2nd conference on Domain-specific languages, 1999
COCA (Collaborative Objects Coordination Architecture) was proposed as a novel means to model and support collaborations over the Internet. Our approach separates coordination policies from user interfaces and the policies are specified in a logic-based language.

Specific language impairment

2013
The acquisition of language is one of the most important achievements in young children, in part because most children appear to acquire language with little effort. Some children are not so fortunate, however. There is a large group of children who also have difficulty learning language, but do not have obvious neurological, cognitive, sensory ...

Early Language Delay and Specific Language Impairment

Developmental Disabilities Research Reviews, 2011
Early language delay (ELD) is a warning sign that may presage the presence of a later language impairment (LI). In order to allow more targeted identification and earlier intervention for LI, better diagnostic measures for toddlers are needed. Development of accurate predictive/diagnostic models requires consideration of a set of complex interrelated ...

Specific Language Impairment

2017
Children with specific language impairment (SLI) have a significant deficit in their ability to acquire language that cannot be attributed to intellectual disability, neurological damage, hearing loss, or a diagnosis of autism. These deficits can be long-standing, and adversely affect other aspects of the affected individual’s life. There seems to be a

Language-specific prediction in foreign language learning

Language Testing, 1995
Language educators have often suggested that some students may be relatively better at certain types of languages. However, the ways in which target language structures interact with individual differences in language learners has never been seriously investigated.
