Speckle evaluation in laser display: From speckle contrast to speckle influence degree
Optics Communications, 2020Abstract Speckle contrast (SC) is universally used to evaluate speckle in laser display, which has virtues of briefness in calculating and definitude in physical meaning. But the results characterized by SC is usually inconsistent with human visual perception.

Computational speckle contrast optical tomography
Dynamics and Fluctuations in Biomedical Photonics XVI, 2019We present and validate a forward model for modeling light propagation in brain tissue. The model is a dynamic light scattering Monte Carlo simulation that tracks the dynamic scattering events of a photon through a brain tissue geometry.

Functional imaging of human retina using integrated multispectral and laser speckle contrast imaging
Journal of Biophotonics, 2021A novel integration of retinal multispectral imaging (MSI), retinal oximetry and laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is presented for functional imaging of retinal blood vessels that could potentially allow early detection or monitoring of functional ...

Speckle Symmetry with High‐Contrast Coronagraphs
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 2002We investigate the pattern of residual speckles obtained with high-contrast coronagraphs and extreme adaptive optics systems. In particular, we provide evidence of symmetry occurring for very small phase defects depending only on the ability of the coronagraph to attenuate the pupil diffraction pattern.

Correcting sampling bias in speckle contrast imaging
Optics Letters, 2022When performing spatial or temporal laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI), contrast is generally estimated from localized windows containing limited numbers of independent speckle grains N S . This leads to a systematic bias in the estimated speckle contrast.

Optimizing the parameters for measuring laser speckle and speckle contrast
Applied Optics, 2014Evaluating the contrast in speckle patterns produced by laser projection displays can facilitate the development of methods to suppress such imperfection. Computer simulations were first conducted to characterize the contrast (C(gs)) of fully developed speckle patterns with spatial factor k and power factor r.

Measurement of speckle pattern contrast
Journal of Optics, 1979Knowledge of statistical properties of intensity in speckle patterns is of great interest. The authors give a method to measure the contrast. A laboratory simulation of the problem has been realised. Stellar images may be regarded as speckle patterns and the contrast should give some information concerning either the light source or the nature of the ...

The evaluation of speckle contrast with variable speckle generator
Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2011Abstract— While laser projection has many advantages, there is a problem with speckle patterns generated as a result of interference of the laser beam and results in bad effects to observers. In 2010, a variable speckle generator, which produces an angular shift of incident light to the screen and generates variable speckle patterns, was suggested.

Aspects of speckle contrast metrology
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Recent revitalization of interests in applying speckle techniques gives rise to the concern of measurement accuracy. In particular, speckle contrast, an important metric in numerous optical techniques, is affected by many factors related to light sources, propagation media, and receivers.
