Magnetic domain fluctuations in an antiferromagnetic film observed with coherent resonant soft x-ray scattering

open access: yes, 2011
We report the direct observation of slow fluctuations of helical antiferromagnetic domains in an ultra-thin holmium film using coherent resonant magnetic x-ray scattering.

Holographic beam-shaping diffractive diffusers fabricated by using controlled laser speckle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A method for fabricating diffractive holographic optical diffusers is reported, allowing a high degree of control of the resulting diffuser characteristics.

Tandem-pulsed acousto-optics: an analytical framework of modulated high-contrast speckle patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recently we presented acousto-optic (AO) probing of scattering media using addition or subtraction of speckle patterns due to tandem nanosecond pulses. Here we present a theoretical framework for ideal (polarized, noise-free) speckle patterns with unity ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Speckle statistics of entangled photons [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. A 94, 013828 (2016), 2016
We consider the propagation of several entangled photons through an elastically scattering medium and study statistical properties of their speckle patterns. We find the spatial correlations of multiphoton speckles and their sensitivity to changes of system parameters.

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

A model for simulating speckle-pattern evolution based on close to reality procedures used in spectral-domain OCT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A robust model for simulating speckle-pattern evolution in optical coherence tomography (OCT) depending on the OCT system parameters and tissue deformation is reported. The model is based on the application of close to reality procedures used in spectral-

Length of Polarization-Correlation Based on Speckle Pattern for Optical Coherent Detection

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
A length of polarization-correlation (LPC) based on speckle pattern of the non-uniform spatial polarization distribution is proposed and measured by using the classical measurement method of the Stokes polarization parameters for optical coherent ...

RCC Structural Deformation and Damage Quantification Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Image Correlation Technique

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Reinforced cement concrete (RCC) is universally acknowledged as a low-cost, rigid, and high-strength construction material. Major structures like buildings, bridges, dams, etc., are made of RCC and subjected to repetitive loading during their service ...
