Speckle tracking technology for quantifying lung sliding
Medical Hypotheses, 2016Ultrasound (US) is gaining recognition as a useful tool for assessing lung physiology and pathology. Yet, currently the skill of performing lung US is taught by experienced operators to novice ones, mainly by recognizing expected patterns. Recognizing the latter may be difficult and subjective.

Principles of speckle tracking
2018A vast amount of speckle tracking techniques has been developed to extract tissue motion from a time series of medical US images. The purpose of this chapter is to explore the underlying principles of these techniques while highlighting the methodological variety.

Speckle tracking for multi-dimensional flow estimation
Ultrasonics, 2000Speckle tracking methods overcome the major limitations of current Doppler methods for flow imaging and quantification: angle dependence and aliasing. In this paper, we review the development of speckle tracking, with particular attention to the advantages and limitations of two-dimensional algorithms that use a single transducer aperture.

Clinical applications of two-dimensional speckle tracking
Heart, 2011To the Editor I read with interest Blessberger and Binder's article on the clinical applications of two dimensional speckle tracking following their excellent previous article detailing the technique's basic principles.1 2 The two articles carry significant detail but fall down in one major regard.

Phase-coupled two-dimensional speckle tracking algorithm
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2006A new two-dimensional (2-D) speckle tracking method for displacement estimation based on the gradients of the magnitude and phase of 2-D complex correlation in a search region is presented. The novelty of this approach is that it couples the phase and magnitude gradients near the correlation peak to determine its coordinates with sub-sample accuracy in
