First description of the baubellum in the spectacled bear Tremarctos ornatus (Mammalia: Ursidae)
Journal of AnatomyAbstractThe baubellum (os clitoridis) is a bone found in the clitoris of many female eutherian mammals and is homologous to the baculum in males. In contrast to the baculum, the baubellum has received very little attention regarding its morphological or interspecific diversity, or on hypotheses for its function.

Spectacled bear predation and feeding behavior on livestock in Venezuela
Studies on Neotropical Fauna and Environment, 1991Spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus) predatory behavior on cattle was studied in the Venezuelan Andes from February 1986 to November 1988. Only 12 of the 140 localities surveyed reported spectacled bear predation. Sixteen recent claims of predation were investigated, and predation by spectacled bear confirmed.

The Primary Structure of the Hemoglobin of Spectacled Bear(Tremarctos ornatus,Carnivora)
Biological Chemistry Hoppe-Seyler, 1987The complete primary structure of the alpha- and beta-chains of the hemoglobin of Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus) is presented. Following cleavage of the heme-protein link and chain separation by RP-HPLC, their amino-acid sequences were determined by Edman degradation in liquid- and gas-phase sequenators. The hemoglobin of Spectacled Bear displays

The role of the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus) as an umbrella species for Andean ecoregions
Wildlife Research, 2019Context The concept of umbrella species has been proposed as a surrogate for the conservation of a wider range of species and ecosystems. This concept has, however, frequently been questioned by researchers because of the lack of empirical evidence to support it.
