Spectral and spatial anisotropy of the oxide growth onRu(0001)
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2002Scanning photoelectron spectromicroscopy has been used to study the onset and the initial stages of oxidation of Ru(0001) at three oxidation temperatures, 625, 675, and 775 K, and oxygen exposures of about 105 Langmuir. The lateral heterogeneity developed during oxide nucleation and growth and the local composition of the coexisting phases have been ...

Photoanisotropic compositions with an extended spectral range of anisotropy
Technical Physics, 2004Experimental data for two-and three-component compositions (dyes embedded in gelatinous and polymeric matrices) that are Weigert-sensitive to polarized radiation in a wide spectral range are reported. It is shown that the matrix considerably affects the photoanisotropic properties of the compositions.

Spectral intensity correlations of backscattered diffuse light: the effect of scattering anisotropy
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2020In this work, we report experiments and a theoretical scheme of photon transport in the frequency domain of rigid turbid media. We have employed spectral multi-speckle intensity correlations to estimate optical properties as the transport mean free path and the absorption length of turbid systems. We propose a scheme based on the photon diffusion model

Anisotropy of the Spectral Structures in Compressible Homogeneous Turbulent Shear Flow
Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2019Summary: The energy spectrum and energy transfer in compressible homogeneous turbulent shear flow are numerically investigated via high-accuracy direct numerical simulation. The Helmholtz decomposition method is employed to decompose the velocity field into a solenoidal component and a compressive one. It is found that the spectra of different velocity

Anisotropy of thermal and spectral characteristics in Tm:YAP laser crystals
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2008Abstract Thermal expansion coefficients along three main crystallographic axes of Tm-doped YAlO 3 (Tm:YAP) single crystals were investigated in the temperature range of 30–1350 °C, and the results showed that they are 11.9458, 5.0012 and 10.5439 × 10 −6 K −1 , respectively. Polarized absorption and fluorescence spectra of Tm:YAP crystals in a – c

Anisotropy of infrared spectral absorption in uniaxially-stressed n-GaP
Infrared Physics, 1983Abstract A theoretical and experimental investigation of free-carrier absorption (FCA) in unstressed (optically isotropic) and uniaxially-stressed (optically anisotropic) n-GaP in the quantum frequency regions has been carried out. At a pressure P = 104 kgf cm−2, parallel to the [100] direction, and at T = 300K, practically all the electrons ...

Spectral Anisotropy of Alfvén-Waves in the Solar Wind
1972According to the analysis of Mariner 5 data (Belcher and Davis, 1971, hereafter referred to as BD) large-amplitude Alfven-waves of solar origin dominate the microscale fluctuations in the solar wind for at least 50% of the time. This claim is disputed by other observers and it may have to be revised towards a weaker statement regarding the dominant ...

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017
We report the demonstration of luminescent hyperbolic metasurfaces (LuHMS) fabricated from deeply subwavelength multilayer metal-semiconductor nanostructures. The LuHMS exhibit extreme polarization anisotropy of absorption and emission, modified emission spectra, and enhanced emission intensity.

Spectral anisotropy in forced two-dimensional turbulence on a rotating sphere
Physics of Fluids, 1997The datasets on the forced two-dimensional turbulence on a rotating sphere obtained in our recent direct numerical simulations were analyzed to study the spectral anisotropy due to the rotation of the sphere. The results were also compared with those previously obtained in some β-plane experiments to assess the β-plane approximation of the rotating ...

Analysis of Texture Anisotropy Based on Some Gaussian Fields with Spectral Density
2011In this paper, we describe a statistical framework for the analysis ofanisotropy of image texture. This framework is based on the modeling of the imageby two kinds of non-stationary anisotropicGaussian field with stationary incrementsand spectral density: the extended fractional Brownian field (EFBF) and a specificGaussian operator scaling field (GOSF),
