[18F]Fluorodeprenyl‐D2 PET as a Tool to Monitor Disease Activity in GAD65‐Ab Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods [18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...

Prodromal Lewy Body Disorder Features in REM Sleep Behavior Disorder With Biomarker‐Defined Synucleinopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Isolated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) is a prodromal state for Lewy body disorders and exhibits biological heterogeneity that may influence clinical expression and progression. We examined clinical features in individuals with iRBD and biomarker‐defined synucleinopathy.

Hybrid Spectral Micro-CT: System Design, Implementation, and Preliminary Results

open access: yes, 2014
Spectral CT has proven an important development in biomedical imaging, and there have been several publications in the past years demonstrating its merits in pre-clinical and clinical applications. In 2012, Xu et al.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Tumour response in non-small-cell lung cancer patients treated with chemoradiotherapy - Can spectral CT predict recurrence?

open access: yes, 2019
INTRODUCTION Tumour response in lung cancer treatment is monitored by measuring lesion size in computed tomography (CT). Spectral CT (SCT) offers additional information on tumour tissue besides morphology.

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

MARS Spectral CT Technology for Orthopaedic Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This thesis investigates MARS spectral CT technology for preclinical orthopaedic applications. Current CT methods for orthopaedic imaging have limited success due to their to inability to quantify tissue types and contrast media, and in reducing metal ...

Spectral Micro-CT Imaging of Ex Vivo Atherosclerotic Plaque [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The goal of this research was to demonstrate the potential of spectral CT for the discrimination of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques. It was proposed that spectral CT has the potential to identify the presence of specific markers for vulnerable plaques:

Cognitive and Neuroimaging Divergence Between Juvenile and Adult FUS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Fused in sarcoma (FUS)‐associated juvenile ALS (jALS) represents a distinct and aggressive subgroup with rapid deterioration and poor prognosis.
