Solvent Co‐Intercalation Enabled Ca Storage in MoS2 for Ca‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Regulating electrolyte solvation levels enables otherwise non‐intercalatable Ca2+ ions to reversibly co‐intercalate into molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as ether‐solvated species. The intercalation reversibility is strongly governed by solvent chain length, as demonstrated using diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (G2) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (

Train Wheel Degradation Modeling and Remaining Useful Life Prediction Based on Mixed Effect Model Considering Dependent Measurement Errors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In order to predict the remaining useful life of rail train wheels progressively under dependent measurement errors, an extended mixed effect degradation model and Bayesian parameter update framework is proposed.

Residual‐Lithium‐to‐LiF Conversion Enables a LiF–Fluorinated Carbon Interphase for Reconstruction‐Resistant Ni‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorine‐rich acrylate monomer (PFHEA) was solvent‐free applied to NCM90 and thermally decomposed under Ar to convert residual lithium into LiF and form a pre‐built LiF/fluorinated amorphous carbon (LiF/FC) interphase. The LiF/FC layer suppresses NiO rock‐salt reconstruction and microcrack propagation, lowers interfacial resistance, and improves Li ...

Application of spectral decomposition of LIDAR-based headwind profiles in windshear detection at the Hong Kong International Airport

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2018
In aviation, rapidly fluctuating headwind/tailwind may lead to high horizontal windshear, posing potential safety hazards to aircraft. So far, windshear alerts are issued by considering directly the headwind differences measured along the aircraft flight

Noncommutative spectral decomposition with quasideterminant

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2008
We develop a noncommutative analogue of the spectral decomposition with the quasideterminant defined by I. Gelfand and V. Retakh. In this theory, by introducing a noncommutative Lagrange interpolating polynomial and combining a noncommutative Cayley-Hamilton's theorem and an identity given by a Vandermonde-like quasideterminant, we can systematically ...

Dual‐Mode Magnetic Elastomer for On‐Demand Motion and Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐mode magnetic elastomer is introduced, enabling DC field‐driven programmable actuation and AC field‐driven magnetothermal degradation. GHz‐range magnetic fields generate ultrafast heating of magnetic nanoparticles that activates cleavage of the silicone elastomer matrix.

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Interfacial Adsorption Engineering Enables a Highly Utilized Zinc Anode With 99.9% Coulombic Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
When hydrated zinc ions are deposited onto Cu substrates at practical current densities, the modified Cu enables simultaneously compact zinc growth and suppressed hydrogen evolution. This regulatory effect originates from the superior adsorption of the modified Cu interface, which enhances zincophilicity and the hydrogen desorption barrier, thereby ...

A method to assess linear self-predictability of physiologic processes in the frequency domain: application to beat-to-beat variability of arterial compliance

open access: yesFrontiers in Network Physiology
The concept of self-predictability plays a key role for the analysis of the self-driven dynamics of physiological processes displaying richness of oscillatory rhythms.
