Approximation results for spectral methods with domain decomposition

Applied Numerical Mathematics, 1989
Approximation results for spectral methods are given. Two different cases are treated: (1) when the polynomials are of different degrees with respect to the different variables; (2) when a domain decomposition technique is used and the polynomials are of different degrees on each subdomain.

Bayesian tissue decomposition method for spectral mammography

2016 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference and Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detector Workshop (NSS/MIC/RTSD), 2016
Breast density evaluation is an active topic in the breast imaging field. This can be accurately measured separating fibroglandular tissue from adipose tissue using material decomposition techniques. In this work, we present a Bayesian approach, based on a Poisson maximum likelihood material decomposition method and that includes an adjustable prior ...

Spectral Decomposition Methods for Hyperspectral Image Compression

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
The Spectral Image Decomposition (SPID) compres- sor uses techniques borrowed from spectral image analysis to achieve a high degree of compression on hyperspectral images. The purpose of this compressor is to provide real-time compres- sion for images captured one line at a time using a "push-broom" method.

Efficient spectral method for disjoint bi-decompositions of Boolean functions

2000 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Emerging Technologies for the 21st Century. Proceedings (IEEE Cat No.00CH36353), 2002
A method has been developed to find disjoint bi-decomposition of Boolean functions. From the knowledge of a subset of Walsh spectrum for a Boolean function and by checking some preliminary conditions, the new algorithm is applied to identify the type of bi-decomposition and its existence. All three types of bi-decomposition are considered including OR,

A simple method for power spectral estimation using subband decomposition

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
A method for estimating the power spectral density (PSD) of a given input sequence is proposed. The method is derived as a simple extension of the subband decomposition fast Fourier transform algorithm. A simple tree-structured subband decomposition of the input sequence is applied using only additions and subtractions.

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AND COMPARISON OF SPECTRAL DECOMPOSITION METHODS IN BIOMETRIC APPLICATIONS

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2014
Face recognition is a challenging problem in computer vision and artificial intelligence. One of the main challenges consists in establishing a low-dimensional feature representation of the images having enough discriminatory power to perform high accuracy classification.

DOMAIN DECOMPOSITION APPROXIMATION TO A GENERALIZED STOKES PROBLEM BY SPECTRAL METHODS

Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 1991
We consider here the approximation of a generalized Stokes problem by spectral methods in the collocation form. This problem is of particular interest when Navier-Stokes equations for viscous compressible flows are investigated. We also analyze a coupling of a viscous model with an inviscid one; precisely, we split the computational domain in two ...

A New Method for Spectral Decomposition Using a Bilinear Bayesian Approach

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 1999
A frequent problem in analysis is the need to find two matrices, closely related to the underlying measurement process, which when multiplied together reproduce the matrix of data points. Such problems arise throughout science, for example, in imaging where both the calibration of the sensor and the true scene may be unknown and in localized ...
