Electromagnetohydrodynamic (EMHD) Flow in a Microchannel with Random Surface Roughness

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
This study investigates the effect of small random transverse wall roughness on electromagnetohydrodynamic (EMHD) flow is in a microchannel, employing the perturbation method based upon stationary random function theory.

Temporal Coherence Estimators for GBSAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Many Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR) applications demand preliminary analysis to select areas with high-quality signal. That is, areas in which the phase can be processed to extract the desired information. The interferometric coherence and

Using stochastic characteristics of vibroacoustic oscillations in the analysis of the dynamic quality of machine tools

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион:Технические науки, 2022
Background. Application of stability margin of dynamic system, integral estimates of autocorrelation functions and spectra of vibro-acoustic oscillations in machine tools is relevant for evaluation of their dynamic quality and purpose of cutting mode ...

Estimating Spectral Density Functions Robustly

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2007
We consider in the following the problem of robust spectral density estimation. Unfortunately, conventional spectral density estimators are not robust in the presence of additive outliers (cf. [18]).

Spectral properties of the generalized diluted Wishart ensemble

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity, 2022
The celebrated Marčenko–Pastur law, that considers the asymptotic spectral density of random covariance matrices, has found a great number of applications in physics, biology, economics, engineering, among others.

Sublinear time spectral density estimation

open access: yesProceedings of the 54th Annual ACM SIGACT Symposium on Theory of Computing, 2022
We present a new sublinear time algorithm for approximating the spectral density (eigenvalue distribution) of an $n\times n$ normalized graph adjacency or Laplacian matrix. The algorithm recovers the spectrum up to $ε$ accuracy in the Wasserstein-1 distance in $O(n\cdot \text{poly}(1/ε))$ time given sample access to the graph.

A Large Deviation Principle and an Expression of the Rate Function for a Discrete Stationary Gaussian Process

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
We prove a large deviation principle for a stationary Gaussian process over Rb,indexed by Ζd (for some positive integers d and b), with positive definite spectral density, andprovide an expression of the corresponding rate function in terms of the mean ...

Discrimination of spectral density

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
Experiments were performed to determine the ability of human listeners to discriminate between a sound with a large number of spectral components in a band, of given characteristic frequency and bandwidth, and a sound with a smaller number of components in that band.
