Bayesian spectral modeling for multiple time series [PDF]
We develop a novel Bayesian modeling approach to spectral density estimation for multiple time series. The log-periodogram distribution for each series is modeled as a mixture of Gaussian distributions with frequency-dependent weights and mean functions.

Determination of optimal damping parameters for seismic isolation systems [PDF]
If seismic isolation system consists of elastic-damping bearings, it transforms protected object into the flow-frequency system. Thus, damping in SIS should be high enough to eliminate resonance effect. Therefore application of damping makes a problem of

CORRELATION-SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF THE TOPOGRAPHY OF ENGINEERING SURFACES AT THE NANOSCALE LEVEL
The nanotopography of some typical technical surfaces is investigated and the characteristics of the nanoroughness profile as a random process are experimentally determined – the autocorrelation function and spectral density.

Comparison Between the Exact Likelihood and Whittle Likelihood for Moving Average Processes
For Gaussian stationary processes, the likelihood functions include the inverse and determinant of the covariance matrices, and Whittle likelihood is considered as a standard technique to avoid expensive matrix determinant and inversions under large ...

Complex quantum networks as structured environments: engineering and probing [PDF]
We consider structured environments modeled by bosonic quantum networks and investigate the probing of their spectral density, structure, and topology. We demonstrate how to engineer a desired spectral density by changing the network structure.

The practice of using units with milling-type operating devices showed their insufficient reliability, which leads to deterioration of the units’ performance. The reasons for this are high dynamic loads in structural members, which are caused by external
