Efficient evolutionary spectral clustering

Pattern Recognition Letters, 2016
An evolutionary spectral clustering method using a smoothed Laplacian is presented. The incomplete Cholesky decomposition (ICD) reduces runtime from O(N3) to O(N).The memory requirements are decreased from O(N2) to O(N).A stopping criterion using the convergence of cluster assignments is adopted. An efficient procedure to select the number of clusters is

On the spatial spectral efficiency of ITLinQ

2014 48th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2014
Device-to-device (D2D) communication allows serving local wireless traffic bypassing the system's infrastructure. The interference in D2D can be controlled by carefully allocating users to orthogonal channels. This paper analytically characterizes the spectral efficiency of the ITLinQ channelization technique [1].

Spectral Efficiency of Cognitive Radio Systems

IEEE GLOBECOM 2007-2007 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2007
In this contribution, we investigate the idea of using cognitive radio to reuse locally unused spectrum to increase the total system capacity. We consider a multiband/wideband system in which the primary and cognitive users wish to communicate to different receivers, subject to mutual interference and assume that each user knows only his channel and ...

Comments on spectral efficiency of VMSK

IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 2002
This article demonstrates that no ultra narrow band modulation (UNBM) method, which includes very minimum shift keying (VMSK) and VPSK, can have substantially greater efficiency than conventional methods, such as quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), in transmission in the same frequency band.

On the Energy Efficiency–Spectral Efficiency Tradeoff in Random Beamforming

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2014
Energy efficiency (EE) and spectral efficiency (SE) are among the most important metrics in wireless systems. The relationship between EE and SE has attracted more attention recently. In this letter, we derive a closed-form approximation of the EE–SE tradeoff in a multi-antenna random beamforming system under a realistic power consumption model.

Spectral efficiency of CDMA with random spreading

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1999
Summary: The CDMA channel with randomly and independently chosen spreading sequences accurately models the situation where pseudonoise sequences span many symbol periods. Furthermore, its analysis provides a comparison baseline for CDMA channels with deterministic signature waveforms spanning one symbol period. We analyze the spectral efficiency (total

Downlink Spectral Efficiency of Mobile WiMAX

2007 IEEE 65th Vehicular Technology Conference - VTC2007-Spring, 2007
Mobile WiMAX is an OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) mobile broadband air interface defined by the IEEE 802.16 family of standards and promoted by the WiMAX Forum as a solution to the requirements for mobile Internet services.

Precoded Spectrally Efficient FDM system

21st Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2010
Spectrally Efficient Frequency Division Multiplexing (SEFDM) system proposes enhanced spectrum utilization in contrast to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing system (OFDM). Spectral efficiency is increased by relaxing the orthogonality condition while maintaining the same transmission rate per individual channel, hence, for the same bandwidth ...

Energy-Efficient and Spectrally-Efficient MIMO

2021
While enabling energy efficiency and spectral efficiency, MIMO systems tends to be associated to an exponential increase of complexity and of signal processing, with the increase of the number of transmit and receive antennas. As described in this article, a reduction of complexity can be obtained with the use of the two proposed algorithms: Maximum ...
