Spectrally Efficient 1Tb/s Transceivers

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2015
Based on recent Terabit-class transmission experiment, we discuss the design of 1Tb/s transceivers for long-haul optical systems involving complex tradeoffs between constellation complexity, opto-electronics bandwidth limitations, ROADM cascade, advanced FEC…

Precoded Spectrally Efficient FDM system

21st Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2010
Spectrally Efficient Frequency Division Multiplexing (SEFDM) system proposes enhanced spectrum utilization in contrast to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing system (OFDM). Spectral efficiency is increased by relaxing the orthogonality condition while maintaining the same transmission rate per individual channel, hence, for the same bandwidth ...

Spectrally Efficient Noncoherent Optical Communications

Frontiers in Optics, 2005
A noncoherent optical communication system employing M-ary DPSK/differential QAM and multilevel-coding (MLC), with LDPC codes as component codes, is proposed. 8-DPSK-based MLC-scheme provides the coding gain of 11.8dB at BER=10-10 with spectral efficiency 2 bits/s/Hz.

A spectrally efficient CDMA overlay

MILCOM 91 - Conference record, 2002
The authors describe a scenario in which a direct-sequence spread-spectrum personal communications network is overlaid on top of an existing set of narrowband microwave users. An overlay of this type results in very efficient use of the RF spectrum, and is indicative of what needs to be done to relieve the spectral congestion at radio frequencies. >

Efficient spectral and correlative processing with spatial-spectral holography

2016 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series (SUM), 2016
Spatial-spectral holographic (SSH) materials function as a coherent frequency domain resource for high-performance spectral and correlative processing. Real-time matched filtering of 25 GHz bandwidth signals is demonstrated including simple text searches. Despite cryogenic cooling, SSH processing can be efficient for large scale processing systems.

Spectrally efficient visible light communications

2017 IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC) Part II, 2017
In this talk we discuss fundamental properties for designing strictly bandlimited intensity modulated signals suitable for visible light communications. In particular, we present a signal space for bandlimited intensity modulated signals and develop an optimized bias signal to minimize the impact of clipping distortion.

Spectral Efficiency Considerations

1997
At the end of the day, whatever cellular radio system is considered, the following two factors will have to be taken into account: (i) The number of subscribers that can be connected to the system in an acceptable way for the radio spectrum allocated within a state or country desiring a cellular telephone service and (ii) the

Spectral Efficiency of Multicarrier CDMA

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2005
We analyze the spectral efficiency (sum-rate per subcarrier) of randomly spread synchronous multicarrier code-division multiple access (MC-CDMA) subject to frequency-selective fading in the asymptotic regime of number of users and bandwidth going to infinity with a constant ratio.

Spectrally-efficient FDMA-CPM systems

2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2014
This paper concerns with the design of spectrally-efficient Frequency-Division-Multiple-Access (FDMA) multiuser systems based on Continuous-Phase-Modulation (CPM). A class of FDMA-CPM is proposed to accommodate multiple users in a subchannel and therefore admits significantly improved spectral-efficiency.
