Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Mineralogical mapping using airborne imaging spectrometry data [PDF]
With the development of airborne, high spectral resolution imaging spectrometers, we now have a tool, that allows us to examine surface materials with enough spectral detail to identify them.

Color Differences on the Lunar Surface [PDF]
Both a detailed literature survey and a new observational study were performed to determine and extend the knowledge of spectral reflectivity differences (color differences) on the lunar surface in the extended visible wavelength region.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Study on Recognition of Marine Microplastics Using Raman Spectra Combined With MTF and CNN
In recent years, seawater pollution caused by microplastic waste has caught more and more attention. Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive detection technique, has representative spectral characteristic peaks, making it easier to identify unknown samples.

Periocular recognition under expression variation using Higher Order Spectral features
Periocular recognition promises attractive trade-off between iris recognition and face recognition because it provides a longer range of imaging than iris and could achieve a higher recognition performance than face.

Multi-feature Spectral Clustering with Minimax Optimization [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a novel formulation for multi-feature clustering using minimax optimization. To find a consensus clustering result that is agreeable to all feature modalities, our objective is to find a universal feature embedding, which not only fits each individual feature modality well, but also unifies different feature modalities by ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Most existing zero-watermarking algorithms for remote sensing images are designed for panchromatic or multispectral data. When applied to hyperspectral data, these methods fail to fully utilize the unique characteristics of hyperspectral images ...
