Identifying optimized spectral and spatial features of UAV-based RGB and multispectral images to improve potato nitrogen content estimation

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology
Selecting optimal input features for the machine learning (ML) models is crucial in estimating plant nitrogen content (PNC). The goals of this study were to (i) identify optimal spectral indices and texture features from RGB and multispectral (MS) images

Mapping Urban Impervious Surfaces by Using Spectral Mixture Analysis and Spectral Indices

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Impervious surface is the major component of urban areas, and it has been widely considered as the key for assessing the degree of urban sprawl. While the effectiveness of applying spectral mixture analysis (SMA) and spectral indices in mapping urban ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Comparison of Leaf Reflectance of Sorghum Plants Infested by Sugarcane Aphids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sugarcane aphid, Melanaphis sacchari (Homiptera: Aphididae; Fig. 1A), is a significant pest to sorghum, Sorghum bicolor (Fig. 1B). Sorghum fields are regularly surveyed to detect pest infestation.

Binary Stellar Population Synthesis Model

open access: yes, 2010
Using Yunnan evolutionary population synthesis (EPS) models, we present integrated colours, integrated spectral energy distributions (ISEDs) and absorption-line indices defined by the Lick Observatory image dissector scanner (Lick/IDS) system, for an ...

Which solar EUV indices are best for reconstructing the solar EUV irradiance ? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The solar EUV irradiance is of key importance for space weather. Most of the time, however, surrogate quantities such as EUV indices have to be used by lack of continuous and spectrally resolved measurements of the irradiance. The ability of such proxies

Covariance Propagation in Spectral Indices

open access: yesNuclear Data Sheets, 2015
Abstract The dosimetry community has a history of using spectral indices to support neutron spectrum characterization and cross section validation efforts. An important aspect to this type of analysis is the proper consideration of the contribution of the spectrum uncertainty to the total uncertainty in calculated spectral indices (SIs).

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Retrieval of Vegetation Indices Related to Leaf Water Content from a Single Index: A Case Study of Eucalyptus globulus (Labill.) and Pinus radiata (D. Don.)

open access: yesPlants, 2021
The vegetation indices derived from spectral reflectance have served as an indicator of vegetation’s biophysical and biochemical parameters. Some of these indices are capable of characterizing more than one parameter at a time.

Surface Gravities for 228 M, L, and T Dwarfs in the NIRSPEC Brown Dwarf Spectroscopic Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We combine 131 new medium-resolution (R~2000) J-band spectra of M, L, and T dwarfs from the Keck NIRSPEC Brown Dwarf Spectroscopic Survey (BDSS) with 97 previously published BDSS spectra to study surface-gravity-sensitive indices for 228 low-mass stars ...
