Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Scale dependences of local form non-Gaussianity parameters from a DBI isocurvature field

open access: yes, 2011
We derive the spectral indices and their runnings of local form $f_{NL}$ and $g_{NL}$ from a DBI isocurvature field and we find that the indices are suppressed by the sound speed $c_s$.

Near-infrared spectroscopic indices for unresolved stellar populations: I. Template galaxy spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Context. A new generation of spectral synthesis models has been developed in recent years, but there is no matching set of template galaxy spectra, in terms of quality and resolution, for testing and refining the new models.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Exploring the utility of Sentinel-2 MSI derived spectral indices in mapping burned areas in different land-cover types

open access: yesScientific African, 2020
The difference in structure and composition of landcover types requires accurate mapping of burned areas for post-fire ecological assessments. Spectral indices for burned area mapping are mostly hard-coded to particular environments.

Dirac Operators on Quantum Weighted Projective Spaces

open access: yes, 2015
The quantum weighted projective algebras $\mathbb{C}[\mathbb{WP}_{k,l,q}]$ are coinvariant subalgebras of the quantum group algebra $\mathbb{C}[SU_{q,2}]$. For each pair of indices $k,l$, two $2$-summable spectral triples will be constructed.

Is the Universe More Transparent to Gamma Rays Than Previously Thought? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The MAGIC collaboration has recently reported the detection of the strong gamma-ray blazar 3C279 during a 1-2 day flare. They have used their spectral observations to draw conclusions regarding upper limits on the opacity of the Universe to high energy ...

Real‐World Investigation of Satralizumab in Patients With Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Satralizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin‐6 receptor, has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). However, its real‐world effectiveness and safety compared to conventional immunosuppressive therapies remain uncertain.

An Informed and Systematic Method to Identify Variable Mid-L Dwarfs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Most brown dwarfs show some level of photometric or spectral variability. However, finding the most variable dwarfs more suited for a thorough variability monitoring campaign remained a challenge until a few years ago with the design of spectral indices ...
