A predictive model for the spectral “bioalbedo” of snow [PDF]
AbstractWe present the first physical model for the spectral “bioalbedo” of snow, which predicts the spectral reflectance of snowpacks contaminated with variable concentrations of red snow algae with varying diameters and pigment concentrations and then estimates the effect of the algae on snowmelt.

Running of the spectral index and inflationary dynamics of F(R) gravity
In this work we shall provide a model-independent general calculation of the running of the spectral index for vacuum F(R) gravities. We shall exploit the functional form of the spectral index and of the tensor-to-scalar ratio in order to present a ...

A spectral model for multimodal redshift estimation [PDF]
We present a physically inspired model for the problem of redshift estimation. Typically, redshift estimation has been treated as a regression problem that takes as input magnitudes and maps them to a single target redshift. In this work we acknowledge the fact that observed magnitudes may actually admit multiple plausible redshifts, i.e.

Spectral goodness of fit for network models [PDF]
We introduce a new statistic, 'spectral goodness of fit' (SGOF) to measure how well a network model explains the structure of an observed network. SGOF provides an absolute measure of fit, analogous to the standard R-squared in linear regression.

Spectral variation of normalised laplacian for various network models [PDF]
Many network models have been proposed to mimic real-world systems when they become too large and complex to be described explicitly. Since the models inherit similar structural properties to the real-world network, by studying their nodes and links ...

Sensitivity experiments to mountain representations in spectral models
This paper describes a set of sensitivity experiments to several formulations of orography. Three sets are considered: a "Standard" orography consisting of an envelope orography produced originally for the ECMWF model, a"Navy" orography directly from the

Spectral modeling of magnetohydrodynamic turbulent flows [PDF]
We present a dynamical spectral model for Large Eddy Simulation of the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations based on the Eddy Damped Quasi Normal Markovian approximation. This model extends classical spectral Large Eddy Simulations for the Navier-Stokes equations to incorporate general (non Kolmogorovian) spectra as well as eddy noise. We

Fuzzy spectral and spatial feature integration for classification of nonferrous materials in hyperspectral data [PDF]
Hyperspectral data allows the construction of more elaborate models to sample the properties of the nonferrous materials than the standard RGB color representation.
