SPECTRAL MOMENTS AND THE ANALYSIS OF CHAOTIC SYSTEMS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2001
The simplicity of structure of chaotic systems, combined with the richness of their output, inspires their use in modeling efforts. On the other hand, the difficulty of their analysis warrants approximation methods, especially since the absence, by definition, of well-defined limit sets prohibits, in general, a meaningful linearization.

Frequency moments and spectral shape of quantum chains

Physical Review B, 1992
The spectral shape of the displacement correlation function of a quantum chain of atoms interacting through a nearest-neighbor potential is approached at all temperatures and wave vectors by the evaluation of the related frequency moments. The latter ones have been obtained, until the sixth one, by using an effective potential derived by a variational ...

Spectral moments of fullerene cages

Molecular Physics, 1993
Based on the symmetric method, analytical expression or recursive relations for the spectral moments of the C20, C 24, C26, C28, C30, C32, C36, C38, C40, C42, C44, C50 and C60 fullerene cage clusters are obtained by factoring the original graphs and the corresponding characteristic polynomials into their smaller subgraphs and subpolynomials.

Ultrasonoecho Spectral Moment Tomography

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1985
Short-term spectral moment tomography is proposed as a quantitative extension of the conventional ultrasonoecho tomography which is widely used in clinical medicine. This paper describes the basic theoretical framework and practical precorrection proceessing of an echo signal for the realization of a quantitative image esentially free from the ...

Spectral moments of polymer graphs

Theoretica Chimica Acta, 1996
It is shown that for anyk, thekth spectral moment of a polymer graph composed ofn monomer units is an exact linear function of the parametern. This linear relation holds for all values ofn, greater than a critical value ξ0=ξ0(k).

On estimating spectral moments in the presence of colored noise

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1970
Let \{q^(1) (t)\} , the signal, be a complex Gaussian process corrupted by additive Gaussian noise \{q^(2) (t) \} . Observations on p(t)q(t) and p(t) q^(2) (t) are assumed to be available where p(t) is a smooth weighting function and q = q^(1) + q^(2) .

Spectral moments of solvated electrons

Chemical Physics Letters, 1978
Abstract A moment theory analysis is performed on the optical absorption spectra of surplus electrons localized in various media. The deduced attributes of the excess particle are compared with those obtained by a perturbation treatment of the exact ground state solution of a currently popular model potential for the species.
