Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio of Ambient Vibration Obtained with Hilbert–Huang Transform [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) of ambient vibration measurements is a common tool to explore near surface shear wave velocity (Vs) structure. HVSR is often applied for earthquake risk assessments and civil engineering projects.

Numerical study on the influence of near-fault and far-fault earthquakes on a subway station with emphasis to scattering on the wave propagation [PDF]

open access: yesNumerical Methods in Civil Engineering, 2023
To improve the design of surface structures built on underground structures to be safe and resistant to earthquake, it is necessary to study the effects of the underground structures on the scattering in wave propagation and the surface ground ...

Research on basin effect based on 2-D geophysical prospecting profile

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The basin effects alter the frequency content, amplitude and duration of seismic waves with different depth and shape basin. In this paper, we selected 2-D geophysical profiles spanning the Weihe Basin with large area and the Luoquanli Basin with small ...

Teleseismic P-Wave Attenuation Beneath the Arabian Plate

open access: yesGeosciences, 2023
In order to prove that the Arabian Plate is a tectonically active region even in its shield areas, we obtained the attenuation structure tp* of the upper mantle beneath the Arabian Plate by applying the spectral inversion method to the newly established ...

Site Response Evaluation in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt Based on HVSR from Ambient Noise and Regional Seismicity

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB), located in central Mexico, is an area for which low to moderate seismic risk is considered. This is based on the limited instrumental data available, even though large historical earthquakes have damaged some urban

Vibration response of the waste rock dump in open pit mine caused by blasting operation [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2015
Analysis of slope stability is often solved when designing and realizing waste dumps. Vibration effect needs to be taken into account, especially when the waste dump is situated in close distance to the seismic loading source.

Seismic Soil–Structure Interaction of Three Historical Buildings at the University of Catania (Sicily, Italy)

open access: yesHeritage, 2022
This study aimed to evaluate the soil–structure interaction of three historical buildings at the University of Catania using ambient noise. The results point out the different oscillation modes of Villa Cerami and Palazzo Boscarino buildings sharing a ...

利用经验格林函数谱比法估计2013年芦山地震序列的应力降

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2023
