Spectral Variability of FSRQs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, 2011
The optical variability of 29 flat spectrum radio quasars in SDSS Stripe 82 region are investigated by using DR7 released multi-epoch data. All FSRQs show variations with overall amplitude ranging from 0.24 mag to 3.46 mag in different sources. About half of FSRQs show a bluer-when-brighter trend, which is commonly observed for blazars.

Variability of spectral tristimulus values

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1961
As the spectral tristimulus values of the CIE Standard Observer System for Colorimetry are measurable quantities, their variabilities should be known. This paper describes a procedure for deriving "within" and "between" variances and covariances in the spectral tristimulus values, based on color-matching data for individual observers.

Spectral variability of the particulate backscattering ratio

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
The spectral dependency of the particulate backscattering ratio is relevant in the fields of ocean color inversion, light field modeling, and inferring particle properties from optical measurements. Aside from theoretical predictions for spherical, homogeneous particles, we have very limited knowledge of the actual in situ spectral variability of the ...

Remotely sensed spectral variability predicts reef fish diversity

open access: yesEcological Indicators
In terrestrial landscapes, the spectral variability hypothesis (SVH) enables estimation of species diversity from satellite data, thereby allowing biodiversity assessments to be upscaled. Whether the SVH works in the marine realm is an open question.

SURFACE ALBEDO AND SPECTRAL VARIABILITY OF CERES [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2016
ABSTRACT Previous observations suggested that Ceres has active, but possibly sporadic, water outgassing as well as possibly varying spectral characteristics over a timescale of months. We used all available data of Ceres collected in the past three decades from the ground and the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as the newly acquired ...

An Efficient Attention-Based Convolutional Neural Network That Reduces the Effects of Spectral Variability for Hyperspectral Unmixing

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The purpose of hyperspectral unmixing (HU) is to obtain the spectral features of materials (endmembers) and their proportion (abundance) in a hyperspectral image (HSI).

Spectral Line Depth Variability in Radial Velocity Spectra

open access: yes, 2022
Stellar active regions, including spots and faculae, can create radial velocity (RV) signals that interfere with the detection and mass measurements of low mass exoplanets.

Spectral Unmixing Based Approach for Measuring Gas Flaring from VIIRS NTL Remote Sensing Data: Case of the Flare FIT-M8-101A-1U, Algeria

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
During the oil extraction procedure, natural gases escape from wells, and the process of recuperating such gases requires important investments from oil and gas companies. That is why, most often, they favor burning them with flares. This practice, which
