Spectroelectrochemistry of cytochrome P450cam
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2004The spectroelectrochemistry of camphor-bound cytochrome P450cam (P450cam) using gold electrodes is described. The electrodes were modified with either 4,4(')-dithiodipyridin or sodium dithionite. Electrolysis of P450cam was carried out when the enzyme was in solution, while at the same time UV-visible absorption spectra were recorded.

The aim of the chapter is to show the importance and utility of coupling electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques as well as the ways to perform such measurements from the operative point of view. In the introduction three paradigmatic examples are illustrated evidencing the potentials of the spectroelectrochemical measurements to characterize ...

Spectroelectrochemistry of Phthalocyanines
2016Conventional electroanalytical methods: voltammetry, amperometry, and so on are excellent methods to determine concentrations, to drive thermodynamic parameters of a system (peak potential, free energy change, entropy, etc.), and to clarify redox reaction mechanisms.

Spectroelectrochemistry of Proteins
Electroanalysis, 2021AbstractThis mini review addresses the evolution of spectroelectrochemistry from the laboratories of Professor Theodore Kuwana into the examination of proteins. Synchronizing electrochemical and spectral properties of proteins enables the identification of functions of redox centers, and their kinetics and thermodynamics.

Spectroelectrochemistry: the best of two worlds
Chemical Society Reviews, 2009The combination of reaction-oriented electrochemistry with species-focussed spectroscopy in spectroelectrochemistry (SEC) allows for a more complete analysis of single and multiple electron-transfer processes and redox reactions in general. Practical considerations and guidelines are provided in this tutorial review, and selected examples involving UV ...

Electrochemistry affects several relevant research subjects of physics, chemistry and biology such as the transformation of materials, the transfer of information (especially in living systems), or the conversion and storage of energy. In addition, electrochemical processes constitute a major class of chemical reactions both in the laboratory and on ...

Dual-beam difference spectroelectrochemistry
Analytical Biochemistry, 1982Abstract An optically transparent thin-layer electrode with carbon fibers as the working electrode is described for use in dual-beam difference spectroscopy. This cell simplifies obtaining the spectrum of a species of interest in the presence of mediators, cofactors, etc. The spectroelectrochemistry of cytochrome c with a large excess of spectrally

Laminar Flow Infrared Spectroelectrochemistry
Analytical ChemistryIn this work, we advance lab-on-chip electrochemistry and spectroscopy by combining these capabilities onto a single platform, thereby achieving mid-infrared spectroelectrochemistry (SEC) for the first time. The key feature of this technique is the use of deterministic laminar flow patterns to precisely transport a reacted solution from upstream ...
