Context: The commonly used extinction laws of Cardelli et al. (1989) have limitations that, among other issues, hamper the determination of the effective temperatures of O and early B stars from optical+NIR photometry.

The nautre of dwarf novae and related systems [PDF]
The high energy emissions from cataclysmic variables (interacting binary systems containing an accreting white dwarf) and the relationship of the high energy emission of these stars to their optical properties were investigated.

The Angular Diameter and Fundamental Parameters of Sirius A
The Sydney University Stellar Interferometer (SUSI) has been used to make a new determination of the angular diameter of Sirius A. The observations were made at an effective wavelength of 694.1 nm and the new value for the limb-darkened angular diameter ...

The Near-IR-Optical-UV Emission of BL Lacertae Objects
Near--infrared, optical and ultraviolet quasi--simultaneous observations of 11 BL Lacertae objects are reported. For all but one source the dereddened spectral flux distribution in the $8\cdot10^{13}-2\cdot10^{15}$ Hz frequency range can be described by ...

Absolute calibration in the 1750 - 3350 A region [PDF]
The absolute flux measurements in the rocket ultraviolet made by Bohlin, Frimout, and Lillie (BFL) are revised using a more correct treatment of the air extinction that enters the air calibration of their instrument.

Hexachlorophene in Cosmetics by Partition Chromatography and Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry
Abstract Five samples at 3 levels of hexachlorophene concentration were analyzed by 6 collaborators. Results show recoveries of 79—103% for samples containing from 1 to 10 mg hexachlorophene. The standard deviation varied from 0.039 to 0.33 and the coefficient of variance ranged from 1.55 to 9.77%. The method has been adopted as official

Correlated Ground-based and IUE Observations [PDF]
The value of coordination among different observers particularly, those working in different wavelength regions is highlighted. This coordination is more important among observers of comets than among observers of almost any other class of astronomical ...
