Far-ultraviolet spectrophotometry of SPICA
A spectrum of the star Spica (Alpha Virginis) from 960 to 1270 A was recorded by a rocket-borne spectrograph March 13, 1988. The spectrum, which has 3.4 A resolution, shows a much sharper drop-off in intensity near 1050 A than similar measurements made by the Voyager UVS, but is in good agreement with the spectrum obtained by Brune et al.

Screening of wheat grains enriched with wall-bound phenolic compounds
Phenolic compounds are dominant antioxidant factors in whole grains and are essential quality traits in future breeding programs. We proposed a robust set of methods for extraction, screening, and quantitative analysis of soluble and wall-bound (WB ...

This study presents a novel strategy for the detection of polyphenols in wine. By combining Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation Monitoring and original functionalization strategies, Gelatin A from porcine skin and Mouse Proline‐Rich Protein 5, polyphenols are successfully detected directly in wine without any prior sample preparation ...

A Supramolecular Material for Controlling Kiwifruit Bacterial Canker
The matrine‐5‐methylsalicylic acid salt (MOS) is reported for its excellent antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa), with advanced cell membrane penetration ability and strong affinities for potential targets. Furthermore, a nanosupramolecular delivery system MOS@hydroxypropyl‐beta‐cyclodextrin (HPCD) with improved ...

Xanthopinacol (xpin) boronates are a conceptually new class of masked boronic acids designed to alleviate many of the disadvantages of pinacol esters and other popular adducts. They can be formed directly from xanthone and UV light, undergo orthogonal transformations, and are cleavable under photoredox catalysis or oxidative conditions that recycle ...

Ultraviolet cometary spectrophotometry [PDF]
During the 13 shifts dedicated to observations of Comet Bradfield (including the two European shifts), five high dispersion exposures were obtained with the LWR camera, 27 low dispersion images with the LWR camera, and 36 low dispersion images with the ...

Reduced Wolf-Rayet Line Luminosities at Low Metallicity
New NTT/EMMI spectrophotometry of single WN2-5 stars in the Magellanic Clouds are presented, from which HeII 4686 line luminosities have been derived, and compared with observations of other Magellanic Cloud WR stars.
