The latest status of nitrogen saturation on Kureha Hill, Toyama, Japan, based on 20‐year observations

open access: yesEcological Research, EarlyView.
Kureha Hill in Toyama Prefecture, Japan, is considered to be in nitrogen saturation, since many streams have contained high concentrations of nitrate for more than 20 years. This study verified the latest status of nitrogen saturation by comparing the latest data with 20‐year observational data.

Bluer in the city: urban male lizards exhibit more intense sexual coloration and lower parasite loads than non‐urban males

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The urban environment may exert different selective pressures on sexually selected traits than more pristine environments. Our study shows that sexual coloration is more saturated (bluer) in male lizards from urban environments than in male non‐urban lizards. The average parasite load is lower in urban lizards than in non‐urban lizards.

Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia in Cancer Patients, a Lethal Yet Fully Preventable Disease: Insights From a Tertiary Cancer Center in East India

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
Age and history of lung radiotherapy are overlooked risk factors for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) in cancer patients. Prophylaxis appeared to be fully effective. 21‐day mortality rate in the PCP group was 35.4%. Hematologic malignancy and lung cancer patients are at highest risk for mortality.

Effect of organic biocolourants on lightfastness and mechanical properties of polylactic acid

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Most modern colourants are acquired from petroleum‐based sources or mining, which often causes environmental degradation. Consequently, alternative colouring solutions are sought, such as using biocolourants, which are organic colourants from bio‐based sources.
