Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was extracted from watermelon rind using acid hydrolysis. MCC can be efficiently used as reinforcement in biofilms and biocomposites. Abstract The increasing accumulation of agricultural waste from watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) represents a substantial environmental concern, particularly in view of the extensive ...

In Vitro Reconstruction of Axonal Heat Sensing with a Photothermal Nerve‐on‐a‐Chip
A photothermal nerve‐on‐a‐chip platform is presented that enables precise, localized heating of sensory axons with simultaneous electrical recording. The system reveals millisecond‐scale dynamics of heat‐evoked neural activity and provides a new approach to study how temperature‐dependent ion channel behavior is translated into axonal firing.

This study evaluated the photodegradation of commercial insect repellents containing DEET and IR‐3535 under UV‐A and UV‐B irradiation using Raman spectroscopy. Pure DEET and IR‐3535 showed intrinsic photostability, whereas DEET diluted in ethanol and a commercial DEET‐based formulation exhibited significant spectral changes after UV exposure.

A methoxy‐functionalized pyrene‐based covalent organic framework (Py‐OCH3‐COF) enables efficient photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) degradation of tetracycline (TC) under neutral conditions. PEC synergy promotes charge separation, reshapes reactive oxygen species, and generates singlet oxygen as the dominant species, leading to rapid and effective TC ...
