Emerald eco-synthesis: harnessing oleander for green silver nanoparticle production and advancing photocatalytic MB degradation with TiO2&CuO nanocomposite

open access: yesScientific Reports
The tertiary composite of TiO2/CuO @ Ag (TCA) were synthesized by the solid state method using different ratios of TiO2/CuO NCs and Ag NPs. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of nanocomposites were analyzed by scanning electron ...

Evaluation of pH and Optical Properties of Dual Rinse HEDP Irrigating Solution

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study investigates the pH values and optical characteristics of Dual Rinse HEDP, either independently or combined with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), and compares them to other irrigants used in endodontics.

Trans unsaturated fatty acids : a study of methodology and levels in New Zealand food fats including milkfat : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Trans fatty acids (TFAs) occur naturally in small amounts in foods such as milk, butter and tallow as a result of biohydrogenation by ruminant gut microflora. They are formed in much larger quantities during chemical hydrogenation of fats and oils.

Characterizing the IYJ Excess Continuum Emission in T Tauri Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present the first characterization of the excess continuum emission of accreting T Tauri stars between optical and near-infrared wavelengths. With nearly simultaneous spectra from 0.48 to 2.4 microns acquired with HIRES and NIRSPEC on Keck and SpeX on

Identification and Characterization of an In Silico Designed Membrane‐Active Peptide with Antiviral Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionary molecular dynamics platform is used to design P1.6, a membrane‐active peptide that senses lipid packing defects in viral envelopes. P1.6 adopts a stabilized α‐helical structure upon membrane contact, disrupts virus‐like liposomes, and damages HIV‐1 particles.

Investigation of in vivo measurement of cerebral cytochrome-c-oxidase redox changes using near-infrared spectroscopy in patients with orthostatic hypotension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have previously used a continuous four wavelength near infrared spectrometer to measure changes in the cerebral concentrations of oxy- (Δ[HbO2] and deoxy- haemoglobin (Δ[HHb]) during head-up tilt in patients with primary autonomic failure.

Dust yields in clumpy SN shells: SN 1987A revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present a study of the effects of clumping on the emergent spectral energy distribution (SED) from dusty supernova (SN) shells illuminated by a diffuse radiation source distributed throughout the medium.

Photocatalytically Activated Cu‐N1S3 Single‐Atom Nanozyme: Enhancing Enzyme Activities and Antibacterial Synergy for Highly Efficient Fruit Preservation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents S‐coordinated Cu single‐atom nanozymes (Cu/CNS) fabricated via mild photocatalytic self‐assembly strategy. The nanozyme exhibits exceptional multi‐enzyme activity and near‐perfect antimicrobial efficacy. Incorporated into chitosan‐gelatin film, it enables pH‐responsive, broad‐spectrum fruit preservation, more than doubling the shelf‐

Mechanisms of Direct Electron Transfer Governed by Redox‐Active Conductive Carrier with Superior Wettability in Anaerobic Biofilms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A redox‐active conductive carrier of tannic acid‐modified iron‐biochar with superior wettability is demonstrated to regulate direct electron transfer at the anaerobic biofilm‐carrier interface by enhancing the cytochrome c‐mediated pathway. For the first time, integrated evidence from spectroscopy, electrochemical analyses, and metatranscriptomics ...

Laser Irradiation of Carbonaceous Chondrite Simulants: Space-weathering Implications for C-complex Asteroids

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
Surfaces of carbonaceous asteroids (C-complex) have shown diverse, contrasting spectral variations, which may be related to space weathering. We performed laser irradiation experiments on CI and CM simulant material under vacuum to mimic the spectral ...
