Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

The 2021 Hot-type Symbiotic Outburst of YY Herculis: An Optical Follow-up Study

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We have followed up on the hot-type classical symbiotic outburst reported in YY Her using the Himalayan Chandra Telescope. The outburst coincides with the secondary minima of the system.

The Spectroscopic Binary Characteristics of the Mercury-Manganese Stars

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1976
SummaryThe 80 confirmed and suspected mercury manganese stars identified prior to 1974 and north of declination -20° have been studied from 654 high dispersion spectrograms. (2.4 - 15 Å mm-1) for velocity and degree of peculiarity. The binary frequency based on velocity variability criteria alone appears to be a normal main sequence value of about 50%,

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Binary Analysis and Period Study of the Long-period, High-mass-ratio Contact Binary KIC 7766185

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present an in-depth photometric and spectroscopic study of the contact binary KIC 7766185. Spectroscopic observations were conducted on the Mayall 4 m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory and used to extract radial velocities.

THREE SPECTROSCOPIC BINARIES IN THE BRIGHT STAR CATALOG SUPPLEMENT

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica, 2019
This paper presents spectroscopic orbits of three binaries, HD 121212, HD 148434 and HD 148912, with evolved primaries and periods of order a year, found in a survey of late-type stars listed in the Supplement to the Yale Bright Star Catalog. All the orbits were determined from observations made with the DAO 1.2-m telescope and coudé spectrograph ...

Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...

Symbiotic star candidates in Gaia Data Release 3

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
Symbiotic stars, binary pairs with a cool giant fueling accretion onto a hot compact companion, offer unique insights to our understanding of stellar evolution. Yet, only a few hundred symbiotic stars are confirmed.

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.
